Back* from the grave

She can suck it, then. Extensive emphasis on knowing what you're doing in a work setting means you should know what the fuck you're doing. That woman actually could be fired for negligence, because "idiocy" isn't a valid reason to fire someone these days. If I were her boss and you told me about it, I would at least tell her that she should pay more attention to work related shit; a good reprimand should at least drop it down to evil glares, because she sounds like she thinks she's still in High School and needs everyone to hold her hand.

Still Napping

Yeah tell her to grow the fuck up.

It's not your fault she didn't read the IT emails. She seriously needs to stop acting like she must be patronized and pampered. She's not a customer, she's a coworker, and she can't get away with treating you like dirt -- even if you did make an honest mistake.

Yup, and that's pretty much what my IT superiors told me. I remember when the whole fiasco was in its early stages I was terrified. It was the first time something bad had happened(to me) while working there along with the first time somebody was angry at me.

It is your fault for failing to properly indicate the difference between backups on the computer itself and the mapped network drive, and for not double-checking where she had *actually* put the backup.
Every new hire was trained on the usage of network drives on day 1. Our team emphasized it with nearly every meeting we had with other coworkers. Periodically we have emails going out reminding people on IT policies. I left out was the part where I offered to do the backup process myself, too. I don't disagree with you that there is some responsibility on me, since as an IT person I should know better than to trust the rest of my coworkers. I shouldn't have gotten lazy and should have checked. Still, I think her being angry at me/aggressively emailing me is crossing the line.

I managed to recover some of the data through data recovery tools, but not that much :\
Ok yeah, I can agree with that. As you originally presented it, it wasn't clear that you'd made all practicable steps to ensure the backup process went smoothly. If she didn't understand what was meant by backing up to the network share then it was her responsibility to ask for help, not just do her own thing and assume it would be fine.

You still do bear some responsibility for not checking that the backup was on the network share as it was supposed to be, though. Certainly her being aggressive towards you in this circumstance is not really justified.

Emphasis was put on saving to the network drive anyways. The dumb bitch should've listened to IT beforehand, and she wouldn't even have to backup, let alone make the mistake of backing up to her local drive.

Sigh. Flacs.

Yeah, Winamp plays 'em if you must, but don't get Flac files, because there is a lack of things that play 'em.

Foobar plays them. Winamp plays them. Every audio editor opens them. What more do you want?

While I fully acknowledge this as necro-ing, there is really no better thread.

Vrael -- It is, and I could definitely use a company with a commitment to flexibility, quality, and customer satisfaction to provide effective solutions to dampness and humidity in my urban environment.

Vrael shouted: Idk, I was looking more for a dehumidifer company which maybe stands out as a beacon of relief amidst damp and unpredictable climates of bustling metropolises. Not sure Amazon qualifies
sounds like moisture control is often a pressing concern in your city

Vrael -- Maybe here on the StarEdit Network I could look through the Forums for some Introductions to people who care about the Topics of Dehumidifiers and Carpet Cleaning?
