This is most likely the wrong place to ask this, and the question may be put down, but I'm spreading it out for an answer anyway for personal reasons.

I've got a friend who lives over in the UK, and he/she doesn't have enough money to get into the university he/she wants to get into. Only having £1,700 when needing £9,000 is obviously a problem. Before getting into the question, I'm just going to state that I'm very close to this person, and am willing to do what it would take to save up some money in the fastest manner possible in order to send it over. I know it wouldn't be wasted.

Now onto the real question, what are the easiest and fastest ways to make money that you guys can think of? Using purely the internet (until I can get a job of course, buuuuuuuuut that's not happening anytime soon, so it's out of the question unless I can find a place that'll let a 15 year old work under the table.[[Not happening.]])

I have found one place available that can provide rather quickly, however it's a matter of chance and requires some skill for whether or not you'll actually earn anything. I originally thought it was easy, but now I realize it isn't. The site is a wonderful place called crowdSPRING which allows you to sign up and participate in 'Projects' hosted by other companies. Often, these range from creating a company logo, naming the company itself, and a small variety of other creative tasks. The payout ranges from $50 to well over $3,000, which is more than enough to what I'd need to get, but like I said, you're not always going to be the lucky winner getting the money.

I do realize that the British Sterling(£) has more value than the USD, so I can't expect $3,000 here to equal £3,000 there, all calculations can be done later on. For now, it's about an easy and reliable way to make money. Everyone is free to provide, comment, whatever. I'm looking for any answer I can get at the moment. I don't think anyone is going to bring it up, but try to focus more on the question than my relationship with the friend.

Thank you everyone, I really appreciate anything I get as a response.

(Additional information that may help:

I have excellent writing abilities, so as far as what crowdSPRING offered with naming, that's not a complication.
I have access to the Adobe Flash Creative Suite/Web Premium CS5 bundle. I have a year and a half worth's of experience with Photoshop, and am learning Flash.
I am learning HTML and working into CSS, with a novice's knowledge of Java programming that I want to extend.
If I can remember anything else I can do, I'll edit it in here.)

(Further info: I understand that Google is my friend, but feedback from here is better than ads and endless clicking until I can take the time to sit down and look. This problem is something I found out about only a few hours ago.)

Are you sure you're not really just funding a trans gender op?

Tell he/she/it to apply to SAAS - he/she/it can get funding for university from the government, pretty easily. Just tick the box that says something like "Impoverished background" or "unemployed, single dependent".

Most governments offer a program that will pay for your friends education.
Another way to get money is get ask your friend to get a loan.

Now that we've got that out of the way here's some ways to make money on the internet and irl.
Most times there is no quick and easy work... so when do these things they will either have horrible pay or very hard work.

-PTC or Paid To Click sites, most these sites aren't reputable; do some research and find a site that is reputable [I recommend you find the reviews on yahoo](however some sites want you to pay before joining) some I've when i was younger was neobucks, neobucks is trustworthy but pay poorly but is free. (don't click the actual ad as it usually has viruses)

-Seasonal work - This is very hard work but pays modestly; this is usually mowing the lawn, or shoveling the drive way. This is usually more profitable in areas with a lot of old people that can't do this work anymore. Most people go for about 10 dollars, if the person is older you can charge 15 - 20 dollars

-App Creation - basically go on a forum and get someone to create an app (usually have to pay em) unless your talented enough to create your own app which would be great. You have to make sure your app is something that is needed and make its worth the cost so that people will say it "feels like a bargain" and tells their friends.

I know her quite personally, didn't mean to block the gender, did it unintentionally. And is that available in the UK?

Not at all. She doesn't even know I'm doing this.

She would have no way to pay back the loan, and I have yet to research any in the UK.

I was thinking about these. I'll check out neobucks, thanks for offering that. Some searching to do for others. How much did you earn from neobucks, if you remember?

Don't really know anyone in my neighborhood that needs it, and I'm unable to go around searching for someone. Good suggestion though, maybe this will become available to me soon now that summer is around.

-App Creation - basically go on a forum and get someone to create an app (usually have to pay em) unless your talented enough to create your own app which would be great. You have to make sure your app is something that is needed and make its worth the cost so that people will say it "feels like a bargain" and tells their friends.

By app I assume you mean something for a phone or iPad/Android ect. I can make those myself, it's coming up with one and then finding the proper coding that will be a problem. Another good idea which I'll consider.

Thank you for the replies, I appreciate each one.

Forex.com.

High risk, high reward. Or drug dealing. I don't recommend either personally, but they're legitimate answers to your question.

Go hang out at an airport with a taxi-driver friend. Pick up rich tourists and mug them while they're in the taxi. Or, if the town you live in has a tourist attraction, just learn to pickpocket people. You'd be amazed at how much a digital camera sells for... Go on google, find a high resolution map of your town city centre, jack up Adobe or similar and create a leaflet. Sell this for $5 to anyone with wide-eyed touristy features. #profit. Or, even just give guided tours of the city for $20 a head. Make sure they pay up front and make sure your commentary doesn't suck dick - if your commentary does suck dick - be sure to catch foreigners or elderly tourists as your prime market.

And yes, SAAS is the Student Awards Agency for Scotland, in England, it is the SFE. Here is where you apply .

Also. LOL at making money online. Get real, son.

Forex isn't exactly online. Its short for foreign exchange, currency trading. Kinda like stocks, buy low, sell high, difference in price times the amount you sold = profit. Very risky though, and you'd need probably at least $2,000 to get started. There are options where you can start with a $500 account, but don't do that. 1 pip of movement in the wrong direction and your position will get closed out because you have so little capital in the account.

This is interesting, though I'm not in a position to start it now, I will definitely check it out in the future. Thanks Vrael.

Lol at the suggestions. All decent ideas, though I don't see it working for myself. The pickpocketing, anyway. With a lack of transportation(which will be fixed soon) I would be unable to spread around pamphlets, but that is a good idea that I may pick up on when given the opportunity.

Also Cardinal, thank you for that. You've got no idea how much I appreciate it.

@Getting real: Yeah, I need to xD

Just here for the pie

I recommend using askreddit for questions like these. There are a lot of people on that site that can probably give you a great answer.

Tbh PTC pays very poorly and it probably won't be able to pay close the amount you asked for. Its just good to use it PTC to get some start up money to go into another business venture.

Although highly bannable (some legal alteratives are games such as 2nd life) in some games you could sell virtual money; or gold farming as it would be called. This works by creating an account on a famous website (i recommend a free game) then make money for the sole purpose of selling it to someone for real life money.

Do not attempt bellow, hard to make money at first. Its just extra info becuase its there, making money in 2nd life and Calypso is hard.

Still Napping

And what are you going to do the year thereafter? Something in this seems a bit off.

You could get an actual job and slowly save up your money. Yes, the system is stupid, but we have to go through this shenanigans anyway.

Student loans, work during school and summers.

It's not fun but it's what tons of my friends have done.

I order you to forgive yourself!

When I did my first summer job, I had the minimum wage and I still managed to make over $2000 in only one and a half month.

Jun 14 2011, 10:33 pm Lanthanide Post #16

Unfortunately most minimum wage jobs simply don't give you that many hours.

For example, a company like McDonald's needs to have a certain number of employees available, so if someone calls in sick they can ring around and find someone else to come in. Similarly if someone is sick, if that singular person only had 1-3 shifts per week, it won't be a huge loss or inconvenience to the business if they can't be replaced. So these sorts of companies often end up hiring people to work 10-15 hours a week with very little scope of consistently getting more work. This suits a lot of people (particularly students), but for those who simply want money and don't care how long they work, it isn't very good. Many retail jobs are similar.

Now if you can get a minimum wage job at a factory type place, then you're likely to be employed for more hours and also have the opportunity of overtime, because in those places the wage bill is a tiny part of their overall costs and raw throughput is all that matters.

Don't worry, today is your lucky day. I'm actually the resident millionaire at this site (my parents own a few textile factories) and $3000 really is nothing to me. Just post your paypal account and I'll 'donate' it into the account (make sure you enable it to receive donations, I'd like to have this as a write off (I can walk you through this))

Welcome to SEN. :)

Having been through the UK university system myself, I can tell you the following:

University in the UK is free at the point of entry. Most universities will begin charging around £9,000 per year from the next academic year (I was lucky and only had to pay £3,000 before the system changed), but the government covers this cost with a student loan, available to everyone if they apply for it. If a person's family is poor enough then they are also entitled to a non-repayable grant to help them with living expenses.

Student Finance England (as Cardinal mentioned) is who they should apply to. But this all sounds a bit weird - how old is this person?

17, if I remember correctly, there haven't been any birthdays so yes, 17. But she mentioned not wanting to spend five years paying off a loan.
