Link works for me. It's a really good thread on TL about HotS.

If she dies in a mission, I thought it costed money to revive her or something?
I would think.
I also would hope you weren't looking to the campaign missions for any sort of challenge. Even at the insane setting the game is simply a matter of having good macro abilities and a-moving.
None.
I play the campaign on normal just to get the drift of the story-line and see what the tech-path or evolutions in this case are like. Then I crank it up to insane just for the luls. Everyone's hating on SC2 campaigns - yeah fair enough the story was poor - but when was the last time an RTS campaign was fun to play? WoL was insanely fun, and judging by those videos and screenshots HotS is going to be even more so.
Its been a while since I've played through the WoL campaign, but didn't we have hero units that died and resurrected there as well? Unless I'm missing something, I don't see what the issue is.
Agree. I think it's a good thing to have Kerrigan reviving. The alternative would be to simply either not let you use Kerrigan in any of your missions (since she is imba-uber-powerful-leet), or they would have to create a bunch of random side-kick heroes for Zerg (Tychus, Tosh, Nova, Stettman, Rory etc). And let's be honest, random-side line heroes are not Blizzards strong point.
What's everyone's major deal with respawning Kerrigan? Do you not remember the final mission in WoL? When she would revive and attack your base repeatedly until you had powered up the Artifact? The Hybrid heroes also revive (I forget the exact mission) but every 10 minutes or so the Hybrid Maar (I think) will revive and come attack your base.
It is common knowledge that HotS is the ZERG campaign. And Kerrigan is the mother of the Zerg and 'she' was exactly where the WoL story left off. It makes perfect sense to include Kerrigan in every single one of the Zerg missions.
Revive is getting hated on? What about Saving and Loading? omgz imba unfair gamebreaker.
None.
Bought SC1 when it came out for $30. Bought Brood War for another $30. I miss those days.
Also, I always thought kerrigan was black/mixed in SC1, probably because her red hair looked like deadlocks. The SC2 kerrigan looks silly being so pale.
Though I've never seen a black/mixed ginger either. so who knows. Also, there's a lot going on with her body so I don't think we can really complain too much about inconsistencies.
"Parliamentary inquiry, Mr. Chairman - do we have to call the Gentleman a gentleman if he's not one?"
You're all silly. The reason she had dreads was because the modelers could not feasibly make a model that had long or even medium hair in the 1990s.
Toy Story, the leading animated film in the mid 1990s, took hundreds of hours to render a single scene, and they didn't even use hair as it really was. SC was aiming for a more gritty look. If you look carefully, you'll notice that any unit portrait in SC1 doesn't have hair at all, or it is covered up by a cap or helmet. Kerrigan is the only unit to have a portrait with any sort of hair at all.
Furthermore, the art style of Blizzard has drifted towards the more aesthetically pleasing feel that is rampant in Japanese anime. Comparing animation of old Western style and new age style really shows how much art has improved in games and animation:
None.

Also, more relevantly, the SC1 portraits were 2D drawings, not 3D renderings like in SC2.
None.

Lol me too. I thought Kerrigan was black, until I saw the cinematic of when she was being invaded and deserted.

We can't explain the universe, just describe it; and we don't know whether our theories are true, we just know they're not wrong. >Harald Lesch
Kerrigan never died in the first place and neither did Tassadar.
But she will in HotS if you let her because SC2 will be WC3 style with a reviveable (main-)hero.

Clearly >_>
I forgot how much I love the obviously forced movement in the portraits, just to show some sort of animation in there.

You kidding? I thought Jimmy was all twitchy from MDMA abuse being a hardcore rebel n shit.
I mean check it:
None.
A lot of the Terran portraits are like that. Even Mengsk's weird turn to the right is odd. It almost looks like they are animatronics that are resetting.

Eww, a black/mixed kerrigan is just so unappealing. I really hope she isn't not white. :x
It wasn't meant in a racist way. ;o It's just that I've always seen her as being *caucasian* so when I see her as with a darker skin tone, it's just really weird and unsettling.
Char is a volcanic and hot planet. She got a tan bro. Deal with it. (Let's not forget Zerg infestation).

Personally I doubt that they would have planned for Kerrigan to get a tan. Seems like a stupid idea to me.
Yeah and well, Raynor grew hair, I had always thought he was completely bald.
Zeratul looks completely different now too, his eyes turned from yellow/red to green, and he lost that thing on his head, whatever that was...
I think Mengsk gained some weight too, he looked kinda scrappy in brood war.
These are the only characters I can think of that were even used again Starcraft 2.
For some reason they managed to leave out Duran, I'm thinking the crappy writers they hired never actually got to the bonus level, because they just read the briefings, and typed "there is no cow level" once the mission started. Either that, or they didn't think one evil black guy was enough, so they made another one to replace him, and made Kerrigan the first evil black woman.
Blizzard is racist.

Blizzard is racist.
The old white scientist guy is Duran.

It is assumed that Duran might be in HotS as he was also infested. I also can't tell where the joke ends and where your actual opinion begins (if ever). Duran also wasn't really black (even though his portrait may have made you think that).
And to back up CAFG's claim:

">http://www.blizzplanet.com/blog/comments/sc2-interview]Back in April during a SC2 single player story press event we were at, we asked a question about what is going on with Samir Duran – when playing the game all the sudden there was this guy who’s name was Duran spelled backwards. So is there any connection between Samir Duran and Dr. Narud?*Laughter* That is an interesting question. Yeah, I think it’s safe to say there is a connection between those 2 gentlemen. And certainly the story they are a part of isn’t only not done but is just now getting started. I think it’s very exciting that there is stuff that has been in the works for the background of this universe for many years. Many years in our world, and many many years in their universe that are really going to start to unfold now. And really, it’s all really going to be coming to the forefront in the next few years.
