Hey SEN community,
How would you implement a custom startup screen and menu, where you choose to play single or multiplayer, in your mod?

Any help or know how would be appreciated...
Thanks,
Empt[y]

To make a custom screen, the easiest way would be to first extract the original splash screen from either the brooddat or broodwar mpqs (I think). It'll be in pcx format, so you'll need to get an advanced photo editing program like photoshop or paintshop pro to open it. After you get that, find a picture that you want to use, resize it to 640x480, and PASTE it onto the original splash screen. That'll change its palette to the one that starcraft uses. Make sure you save it at title.pcx, and put it into your mod. Changing the menu screen is a little more difficult, since all the buttons that you can click are their own graphics, so they'll stick out if you change the space background. If you really want to change that, I think you do the same thing that you do for the title screen, but I'm not sure.

Oh alrighty, yeah I've got WinMPQ so I'll just extract the pcx file for the first startup screen.
I should've guessed lol, but thanks a million Dem0nS1ayer...

I wonder how you would change the menu screen entirely...
SCTFC It's the link to a mod I recently acquired.
They removed the original menu screen and replaced it with one similar to a Half-Life game.

Would anyone know which program and what coding to use to modify the menu screen?

Well you'd need to get a background to replace the space background. Then, you'd need to get your own graphics to replace the pictures that go with the buttons (black hole, satellite, etc).

Oh okay my bad. Thanks again...
I think I found the menu buttons files, they appear to be smk files...
This is what I meant to ask before, do you know which program edits smk files?

TheHappy115 -- Yea, thats the issue. Thanks. It would also explain why my deleted map couldn't get updated. Updated version reduced collision on units (only thing added) since was dodging game (players collide with each other)

Ultraviolet -- If so, I'd just focus on getting them on scmscx.com and then you can link to that in the showcase thread for your maps

Ultraviolet -- I can't upload my EUD maps, I think the DLDB has some issue with handling them. Are you trying to upload EUD maps?

TheHappy115 -- Its been awhile but ever since I requested one of the Maps I posted to be deleted since I couldn't delete it myself (or update it), I haven't been able to upload any more maps. Any reason for that?
