Do any of the SEN coders want to get together, maybe with Suicidal_Insanity, and code a better SC2 editor, in the same way that there is SCMDraft for BW? The current editor is pretty messy, and there's a good chance Blizzard won't fix it up much/at all when they release the full game.

Red classic.

Afaik, Lethal_Illusion doesn't code things.
Ask Suicidal_Insanity?
None.

Ah yes, I meant SI, not LI. Sorta similiar names

The main improvements would be UI improvements, as well as things like Importing and Exporting tools for different model formats.

Let me show you how to hump without making love.
What sort of improvements would you be looking at making? The main purpose of the third-party editors in the original Starcraft was the enable things that were technically possible (encodable in a scm/scx file), but not possible to do in the vanilla editor. As far as I can tell, Galaxy Edit does not share this problem.
Just a UI improvement and better brushes on terrain, since the game deals with numbers for its heights anyway. That would be a god-send.

*cough*I wouldn't waste your time on model work as of right night...*cough*
Jack, if you want access to the
MilkyWayEdit Project, i'd be happy to add you to it. We wrote it in C#.

I'd also recommend waiting on Terrain work,
.
The only thing they said GE won't do is UI Customization, which was something i've had planned in MWE for a while.
None.
It would be pretty sweet if Suicidal_Insanity were to make a 3rd party editor. The main things I would look for is: a mirror tool (example: SCMDraft has it so you can make your maps symmetrical) and a lot cleaner user interface.
None.
Oh right... As far as SI goes, we talked to him prior to the release of GE. He didn't want anything to do with SC2 because he didn't get a Beta Key from Blizzard.. or something.
As far as anything goes, GE is still in Beta as well. Everything mentioned thus far (except for UI) is going to be updated/fixed, so... Only things GE has said to not do is UI Customization (fully) and better Galaxy Scripting.
None.
Mirrored terrain is the only thing I want.

I don't know why it was not added ><

Blizzard clearly stated that they will not support it.
I can give a key to SI if he wants.
For my part, I'd prefer a linear-brush terrain tool. It's hard to make straight lines D:
None.
Ummm.... i'm pretty sure sc2mapster is working on one as we speak.... Once again, they're ahead of us.

That's half the reason I started this topic ;o

I could've given SI 10 keys,

Where'd they state they weren't supporting Mirroring in Terrain?

We've been working on MWE since.. March?

We should start compiling a list of all the features we want to add for a 3rd party editor so that when it comes time to actually do it we have a list of things to accomplish.
- X/Y/XY/XY-Rotational Mirrored Terrain
- Effective tooltips (removeable) for those who don't yet know what everything is in the editor and/or how to work with it
- Fully customizeable UI (shouldn't be a high priority)
- 'Create New Unit' button - creates a blank template. Also add 'Copy Unit' function, automatically copies all selected features of selected unit (checkboxes would be convenient).
That's a start.

What would having tooltips for GE in a third party editor do...?
None.

Keyword here:
effective. Effective tooltips. 'This is what an actor is.' 'This is what a trigger does.' For newbs mostly. Removeable so they don't become an annoyance to experienced mappers.
None.
What able a button named "Create a new unit".
And it creates all the necessary duplicates asking you the most modified variables such as attack animation or such?

Sounds like something that would be more useful for a Wiki. If you plan on recreating everything GE can do, what would the reason be for not using GE?
