rockz needs to make a new [EUD] video tutorial.
I will as soon as I find a better movie program than movie maker, which doesn't work on my computer (nor can I fix it) and has shit for outputs (can't even properly create an uncompressed AVI). Any ideas T&C lurkers? Final Cut or iMovie would be nice, but they can't run on AMD CPUs because steve doesn't like competition.

Unless you somehow get AVID (which is what all features are cut on, unless they wanna be "different" and use Final Cut), I recommend Adobe Premier.

Are you running on Mac or something? If you're on Windows, I hear Vegas Movie Studio is a good Windows replacement for Final Cut, although not quite as well supported.
None.
I went back to Windows Movie Maker after Studio 10 failed me.
All I can recommend is iMovie on the Mac because it is a really good editor, but it looks like you tried that.
I did some quick reading, and a couple people are saying Adobe's Premiere Elements is as close to it on Windows as you are going to get. However, I have never used Premiere to confirm that.
None.
Why can't there be an easy program to like... go into any frame you want and paint over it, or take a transparent .gif file and put it over the movie any time you want? If it's not made yet, I call dibs on making the first easy-to-use special effects video software.
None.

There's Wax and Virtual Dub. Virtual Dub has less features, but is perhaps easier to use. You can extend it using plugins too. Wax is more powerful AFAIK. Both have ugly interfaces

Virtual Dub occurred to me to be a cutting tool rather than a video maker. In the basic version there isn't even a way to add text or to capture a movie. I don't know if there are plug-ins that can help that.
But if there are then you might want to consider it, because it has a very clean interface. No bloated wizards and other fancy stuff everywhere...
Oh, and it uses the codecs installed on your computers. So if you want a specific import/export codec you can just dl it from somewhere. There's plenty.
