The sword and the faith

Its been awhile since I made a map, and Windows 7 and SCMDraft have done everything they possibly could to keep me from doing so again. Without zoom, with crashes, and generally an annoying experience, I managed to make my latest:

Not much to say about it except the following:
-Bridge blocks are 16 each.
-Decoration and doodading isn't finished. The doodad tile clusters are just to prevent tank holes for now so I can fix them later.
-Pretty standard and no real wow factor.

Look everyone, a 2 player tornado!

Its good, but the only thing wrong is that player 2's minerals, gas and start location need to be moved to the right a bit.

What's the concept here?

Not saying there isn't one, I just can't see it. Inexperience, y'know.

The sword and the faith

Concept is a simple XY layout with a secondary out of nat path. Unbuildable and open, balance is pretty even and should prove stable if not so interesting.

I don't see that causing too much damage, it's still possible to get back there and attack the tanks.

You can easily get behind the mins. I left that space purposely, both for drops and turrets.

firebat+med+tank maybe. I dunno, it's definitely something you'd have to host a game to find out.

There would have to be a very heavy discrepancy in the players for any such cheese to work. Also if you just let yourself get dropped like that, you probably deserved it. :P

WTF is this terrain O.o

The only real complaint I have about this is the fact that the mineral line is underneath the CC/Nex. Rallied workers will have horrid pathing and will be a bitch to select especially with higher saturations.

(Does Z have enough space to place sunkens? Nothing... is buildable in here.)

3rd gas seems to be in an okay spot; center expos might be a little hard to hold.

(Can you build addons at the bottom left min-only?)

-Pfft. Barely a complaint.

-Yes. I checked.

-Agreed, they're supposed to be.

-Yus.

Sorry, the low-res picture you posted was very blocky; did you use SCMdraft's native image save function or another program?

I think Ex saves it with scmdraft and then opens it in paint.net and adds a 0 glow to it.

If you make a map brighter, it always looks about 10x better and none ever complains when I do that to my maps. However, we all have different tastes, so here ya go: ;)

I.e. no concept other than the same old boring melee maps that have been done to death.
Just saying :stfu:

...
this kinda made me realize that melee maps don't have a lot of stretching room.. The only area in which it can stretch in is artistically. Conceptually, everything has been standardized already. The only impressive thing you can do with melee maps is make it pretty... It's kind of sad, but also a challenge at the same time.
... soooo your map isn't that pretty :P .. so no new artistic motifs here either.

You live in your own world. Please learn how to play melee before making more bold statements.

There are probably certain elements in some of those maps that you don't even understand how they work. This is why some of us went to BWMN to study melee and experimental elements.

Design concepts are nothing radical to be honest, though I wonder what good the carriers here will do...

Mind control is the entire point of that map. It was part of a 'make a map for x race' contest.
