text display characters

A text display like this should be displayed in 3 rows:

xx xx xx
xxx xxx xx
xxx xxx xx
xx xx xx
xx xxx xxxx

where x can be various characters. So 3 rows of characters. But ingame, the second and third row are shown like this:
xx xx xx
xxx xxx xx
xxx xxx xx
xx xx xx
xx xxx xxxx

The second and third rows can be a bit adjusted, using space and delete to move the characters, but still they are not in a straight row like the first row. Any way to set them all neatly in equal rows?

The two look exactly the same to me. Whatever the problem try implementing tabs for neat alignment, go into notepad or otherwise and press tab, copy and paste it in the editor.

Guess and check is the way to go. Might want to find a different way to organize the text though, since vertical columns are annoying to space properly.

If memory serves, you can use the left, center and right tags in the same line to align the columns pretty well.

I guess it is not shown here properly..
I tried notepad, so I could use tab instead of space, but it didn't work.
Also left, center, right allignment, doesnt work either, the rows are still not straight.

The spacing in notepad is different than the spacing in game. This means, you'll have to guess and check the distance by going ingame, coming back and making changes.

Or, you might consider doing what JaFF said.

You're right, it doesn't fully work. The normal left and the right alignment work properly together, but the center doesn't. So yeah, SC will chew them up, but I doubt much good will come out of it. Just try aligning the text manually, I suppose.

Code
put code tags [code] and
[/code] around it.

Ok, to make sure, this is what I meant:
Code
xx      xx         xx
xxx     xxxxx      xx
xxx     xxx        xx
xx      xx         xxxxxxx
xx      xxx        xxxx

Using manually alligning, the rows can only get near straight.

Oh, I know what you mean, I have this problem too. I think it's due to the fact that different characters are different lengths in-game, but apparently you can copy/paste tabs in from notepad, or so I've been told. That is, copy paste the "tab" character from notepad into SCMDraft2's text editor thing.

I tried it, but copying only the 'tab' from notepad didn't work either, while they do show up in straight rows in scmdraft itself.

If it's this, you could get PyTBL (part of the PyMS modding suite) and preview your strings outside of starcraft (note: PyTBL doesn't wrap long strings just so you know).

A each tab is spaced 4 spaces apart. You don't have to copy the tab character from Notepad or anything, as it turns out <09> turns into a tab (though it doesn't tell you this). The tab looks much larger in editor than it actually is in-game.

It should and does work.

It works as a tab, but the characters do not show up in a straight rows. they all have different tab lengths it seems. Same for the <09> tab. How does it work exactly? After saving in scmdraft the '<09>'tab disappears in scmdraft itself, so it's hard to figure it out and make rows.

Essentially what he said. Trial and error is your best bet.
