Alright so i have a somewhat long message i want to display. It's about 5 lines. After experimenting, i saw that only the first line would be colored when i put the color indication. So i placed the same color indication thing after each word and see what happened. For some reason, the first words in each line after the first line would still remain uncolored and default.

How do i make a big passage the SAME color?

Excuse my uselessness but isnt it

<01> Hello their,
<01> how are you
<01> today?

Edit: yea the <01> was for format purposes only. (personally I like using <18>)

I tried

<01>Hello their,
<01>how are you
<01>today?

and

<01>Hello <01>their,
<01>how <01>are <01>you
<01>today?

And it doesn't work?

try a code besides <01> or <02>, they're both the default color codes and will not produce a noticeable change. try <06> or something.

Yeah i actually used <06>. For some reason the first word of each line is still default color while the rest of the line is red.

Post the map? I have no idea why this is happening.

I suggest (if you don't want to post map) saving in multiple editors. Does it show up correctly in the string editor?

It's weird. I have a lot of those texts, but in some instances it would work perfectly, while other passages would for example have the first work of the 3rd and 5th line default color, while the rest would be yellow.

In the string editor of scmdraft2, it shows up all yellow. But in the game some of the first words don't.

After looking at it though, in scmdraft2 it sometimes cuts off the words and put the remaining letters in the line after it. Do i have to manually space it so it doesn't cut off the word? This could be the problem.

The problem is bad use of formatting on your part.

It probably is but how would i fix it?

For some reason all the screenshots i took in SC came out black. So i took pics of the strings editor.

I did the left first. It had A LOT of words that were not yellow. When i tried the right, the three words "the" "general" and "against" were all first in the line and were all default colored.

But i already have <03> placed in front of all of those 3...

This is just a theory, but maybe SC's text formatting code resets the color when it's forced to break a line of text. Try putting a manual line break in (wherever you want, or just in the same places SC is breaking it) followed by the color character.

I remember when I was working on a map a while ago I was using manual line breaks, and each line had a couple leading tabs then a color character - it worked fine. It looked like this:

<c>\tSome Text Here...<manual break>
<c>\t\tMore text here

They all look fine to me. Screenshots are placed in your starcraft folder as a .pcx file. Don't try to paste into paint. Save them as a png file through irfanview.

A fact actually.

@Craftstar2: Use manual line breaks (new line), this way you are in control of when text will go to the next line. You can remove the unnecessary colour tags added to the beginning of each word, and instead only add it at the beginning of a new line.

Hm alright thanks. I guess i have to fix all of my strings :( Argh.

How do i know what's the beginning of each line though? Is at the bottom in the strings editor?

You will have to test it ingame.

Unfortunately ScmDraft uses a font where the letters have a different width from those of starcraft so the preview in the string editor is pretty useless.

However you should end your line way before the end of the screen anyway. It just looks more professional.
And a few spaces in front of every line also look nice.

And preview in the string editor has incorrect colors (for example compare color of text in real game briefing and in string editor)

I have like 40 strings i have to test...

Thanks. I'll just count how many characters there are per line.
