You want to insult me with this, but yes, that was the keyword.

I see you have legitimate concerns but if you are not interested or think I'm a liar, troll or any other reason then don't bother posting or this thread could become a flame war which wouldn't be any constructive to anyone. I personally talk to the people who are interested and if they have any "concerns" then if that is the case I am more than happy to address them.

I understand your concerns but I am more than confident in what I'm doing and if I get at least 1 person to join me, this thread would be a success (which already is for that reason).
Bull on participating in this helping. If you want people to believe you, yes, you have to explain. Otherwise, you come off as a troll.

Can someone please explain to me how Woland is trolling?
Charlatan, perhaps, but troll I don't understand.

DOTA like maps will rule the SC2 custom gaming too.

I hope not, if that was the case I at least hope Blizzard has a good filtering method when searching for games in battle.net 2.0

In this case, at least, how are they different? He says he has something, but he can't provide it; it's rather ridiculous that he has it. Maybe not the strictest definition of trolling, but I think it's definitely close enough. Stop being a vocabulary nazi. :P

You can filter games on the current Battle.net with an external application.

Anyway, you have nothing that anyone here couldn't offer more of.
Nobody wants a "possible increased chance" of getting the beta. They want guarantees of getting it or not. Even if they don't get the beta officially, I'm sure there will be other means of getting it and making it playable.

I was caught up on the SC2 Beta concept. I know he has no way of providing people with some extra way to get in the beta (unless he bought SC2 keys from eBay, given out at BlizzCON). If he can prove me wrong, I'd love to hear it.

And Heinermann brought up an extremely valid point:

Edit: I would like to update the report on this situation.

I have reports from a clan ws on starcraft (I got a friend in there that my brother loves dearly (Yes shes a girl you fags :P )) that woland is a MAP STEALER. Also he got banned from op sen for flaming and the bot got him. Reason: Racism

I'd like to point out that DOTA like maps are popular because in reality, they're really fun. And it encourages lots of teamplay, as well as team strategy- making it a FUN and SKILLED game. And I have NO PROBLEM whatsoever for DOTA like maps to be filled in custom games. And even in WC3, it really isn't full of DOTA like maps like you think- it has a ton of other fun maps too (and Melee).

So stop with the baseless prejudice.

Many communities haven been given beta keys for distribution as they see fit. TeamLiquid got 40 (I think?); honestly if the head of StarEdit.net petitioned for some you could probably get keys to distribute as well, that is provided that the World Editor is included in the Beta, which I don't believe they've verified yet.

TL at least is giving them out in pairs, so if you win a contest you can give one to a friend as well, and that is likely where his offer for help is coming from, if I had to guess. That or he'll let you remote into an isolated computer with only SC2 loaded onto it, it's not exactly difficult.

I hope a game like DotA comes out as well, it's a great team game, if a bit too strategic for my tastes. (SOME GAME DEVELOPER PLEASE MAKE AN FPS DotA!) I'm just not looking forward to the stage where we get about a dozen decently made DotA clones in SC2 where they all have ideas that need to be combined into one game, or worse: that a poorly made clone becomes the staple game because it's the first one out.

With that said, I have a decent knowledge of C and I'd be interested in helping. I know the SC editor in and out but I haven't explored the War3 editor much.

That's feasible, but I don't think he actually has access to keys in the first place. My guess is that he wants to form a team and then contact Blizzard, hoping they'll just hand over some keys for the hell of it.

I was about to say what FaZ did. The "increased chance of getting a SC2 beta key" is likely the intention to gather mappers to compete in many of the current community site competitions for beta keys. CampaignCreations, for instance, is running one such contest.

His secretive nature about his plan indicates to me that he doesn't want anyone to realize they can do it without him until after he's already roped them in.

On another note, there Is no such thing as SCII map makers right now, but many of us will be SCII map makers anyway even if you "employ" us or not.
so this thread is absolutely redundant.

I thought we all agreed to host DotA al stars thats actually a rick roll map  . Anyway Woland is very mature and all he just wants is some friends to edit with him in sc2. Thats not too much to ask is it?

Jun 22 2009, 5:56 pm UnholyUrine Post #34

Lol of course not :\ .. it's the part where he said "increased chance of getting beta" that turned ppl off I think.
and stop with the Bloody "mature" thing, it's a gaming forum o.O! Who cares?!

I think its a lil too early to ask... seeing how it only SEEMS that SC2 will be out by this year.. lol :(

I love all this talk about maturity and this bashing of the so called troll. Troll or not remove the problems. Don't keep hashing them out. This guy is looking for some mappers and he amoung many others have heard that the sc2 editor will be released in beta and he would like to try it out.

Honestly guy i think you should just work by yourself. Things are more efficient that way plus you don't have to work through all the attitudes/conflicts of personality. If that doesn't work for you try grabbing someone you've had previous runins with like queen gambit or whoever. Generally people you worked with before will be better working with again than aquaintances.

I think most of the moderation in here has just been a result of people throwing around the word troll like they know what it means.
While ironically doing it themselves by disrupting on Woland's topic. If anything, Woland's keeping of his composure in face of that is to his credit.

Anyway, I've cleaned up the topic. Please try to remain on-topic and constructive.

If you are going to post about the dubiousness of Woland's offer, do not post. This has been stated and restated ad naseum. Your post will be considered spam and it will be deleted.

Just wanted to clear this up. As you probably know Helms Deep v10.5 Annatar still holds Annatar in the map name for a reason. War_Illithid_4H started with the mods long time ago and nobody seemed to care because the map was not popular. Clan 4H felt the map was going in the wrong direction especially in regards to balance and then he passed the job to me. On the Heaven's Last Defense series I used to give proper credit in the trigger section but I had to remove this, reason: Lots of people were asking for credit and I've had people out of nowhere asking for it without any validate proof. However most of them were in my old clan SH and therefore I added special thanks to clan SH.

On another note, I apologize for my behavior in channel.. I'm sorry if I offended someone but if you read the convo, I wasn't the one who started the racist remarks. I know my rep might no be good in some places but this other ws person calls people in the US army fags, floods channels and jerk it to hentai.

Back on topic, I appreicate the people that have shown interest in the proyect. =)

There's no such word as Nauseum :P .. and it's spelt Nausea .. not Nasea :P

As dubious as my comments were... I read a similar topic on www.starcraft2forum.org .. about a "Top secret Sc2 map" .. which ironically is not so top secret as it was right on the blatant forum.. Sheesh

All I can say is... you're getting over-excited. I like the enthusiasm... but I have serious doubts about you being able to get people together and work on a single map... And I'm sure many people can make great maps themselves or form teams themselves AFTER the game is out and people start getting a feel of the Map editor and its capabilities...

I strongly suggest you try again when the game's out :)... THEN I'd be happy to join.
