New concept that came to me.
Discuss.
EDIT: If you don't get it, you suck. I've showed it to a few high level mappers and they like it, so there :P.
EDIT2: Made ob never die.
It seems people dont understand the meaning or how this works, so I'll explain. Basically what happens is your gas is your shield level, when you take damage it does the animation and subtracts gas, when you reach zero gas you run out of shields and it's deactivated, you can't turn shields back on till they recharge to 50+.

Various Korean maps utilize this effect as part of a spell.

The map isn't about the effect.

I think I can safely say Genesis of Corruption will not be any good now.

First of all this has nothing to do with GoC, which is being renamed. Second of all that was completely unconstructive. Third of all, I havent seen anything regarding maps from you, concepts, any help giving to nubs or anything. Fourth of all, What's wrong with it? I showed Lethal_Illusion, Vrael, Morphling and others this, and they all loved it. What's your problem?

He's CAFG. He always has a problem.
I like the idea.
Then again, you could sort of say that Lethal already did this with his Elementa map...

I do beleive, however, that you should make it hit every time, you know?

You don't need to be a good mapmaker in order to appreciate or not appreciate a map, concept or not. Besides, if you could have done this without EUDs it's one thing (of course it's easily achievable with VHP.) but you did it with EUDs. However, I think the effect and idea is good. It reminds me of Halo's shield system.

Jun 15 2009, 7:35 pm Pigy_G Post #13

There's nothing wrong with using EUDs, not all maps can use vHP or want too, I personally find the most common forms of vHP disgustingly ugly and annoying.

EUDs may or may not get patched, and the fact that you have to do 1 hp point at a time sucks. :(

whats wrong with normal hp... spellsword uses normal hp and it works amazingly

In elementa, for the Fulmen Character, he uses the same idea for using Shield Sprites to signify something like energy, or shields.

You are also using the same idea with Shield Sprites from an invisible unit getting hit. That is the same.

As Viet-X said, EUDs may or may not get patched, making them unreliable. That is the problem with EUDs.

The map isn't about the shield effect people! It's about having a shield level, (gas) which is only subtracted over time or by taking hits! It recharges when you have it off, but if you have it off your hero takes damage.

SCII is coming out, I doubt they'll be more than like 1 or two final patchs. Not to mention the euds in this map are extremley easy.. I guess only advanced mappers get the actual concept >.>

SDE, BWAPI owner, hacker.

The concept sounds boring. Those "advanced mappers" probably just said "oh yeah cool" to make you stop bragging to them.
