Here I made some cliffs that go directly to grass, along with forward and backwards ramps and then also for coastal cliffs.

Regular grass cliffs:

Hello

Sticky, very very very great work. I love it. Could you try to make a asphalt-cliff?

Actually, seeing the cliffs in the bunker topic prompted me to try to make a better one, and that led me to try to make asphalt cliffs, which failed miserably. So I tried it with various other tiles, such as mud, which also looked nasty, and I eventually got to grass cliffs. So, yes, I will try, but my previous attempts failed.

Pretty good,
But most of the time it doesn't look that good in game.
EDIT: I meant Zero's post

Hello

Zero's are awesome, but AllStar's:
first: you could walk on it from behind (also no ramp)
scnd: looks nice, but isn't difference from sticky's
third: good idea but blocky... well, you couldn't make it better.

1: The first is just a concept, not meant for actual maps. If you needed to use it for a map you could just put DT's there or something. Also, I tried EVERY other option... its pretty much impossible. :P
2: Its different from zeros, notice the sides blend better, The inside edges blend better and the second part blends at the bottom into grass, so its a high grass -> grass blend. And theres a high grass -> dirt bit on the left.
3: well said, it cant be made any less blocky. I still think mines better than the original though.
thanks for the crits ^^

These are crazy good, this makes me want to make a map that uses badlands, these new blends being found for it, nice job!

Very very sweet, although it almost doesn't look like cliffs..

He just snapped a screenshot of Tuxlar's badlands blend map which I posted. I'm assuming stickynote pretty much just used that blend map to fuel his terrain :/.

I was making asphalt cliffs (to dirt), but I failed, so I looked at tux's badlands map. Those cliffs got me trying to make my own that looked better without the use of sprites, but if I were to use it in a map, I would use sprites anyway.

The original ones I made were like yours, but I decided to change the cliffs more so that it was more "custom" rather than just changing the top. The ramp you made is kind of ugly. Try not to take it too harshly; mine aren't too good-looking either.

Even if you put dt's on the edge, in game, you would still be able to see over the cliff edge.

That's pretty bad-ass if you don't look at it too closely.

That last one you made, ellis, reminds me of venice. Nice work, but it's blocky.

Wow, I forgot how sexy the blends were that Tuxlar had on that map, there's a lot of bad ones on there though..

Is anybody up to making that on jungle? As in, cliff to jungle? (Or raised jungle)

Mar 16 2009, 4:11 am Falkoner Post #17

I've seen raised jungle to cliff, but I don't think I've seen the alternative.

I think I've seen it before.

If it wasn't for his map I wouldn't be able to do the terrain in Hobo Quest :P. Well, it would be A LOT worse (It's kind of unique now.)
