The map's original idea was to be based off of Civilization Wars on Warcraft 3. Due to SC's limitations however we knew we'd have to cut a lot of corners. We then decided it was best to give our map a new name and make some changes.
Conquest works in some weird ways using some weird systems. Unit spawns and income are based on a timer and use the same system as seen in Sand Castle Wars. There are three lanes: Top, Middle, and Bottom. Holding one of these lanes can grant you extra income, extra supplies, or the ability to build special units. The object being to go down the lane, destroy your enemies towers and ultimately their capital.
The way to do this is by using a certain type of unit to counter whatever type of unit your enemy is using. The types are as follows:
Melee Infantry
--The cheapest and most basic units, they do well versus themselves and when they get close to archers, its a slaughter. However, cavalry will be their demise.
Units: Axeman, Swordsman, Knight
Cavalry
--Cavalry are mounted units that do well against infantry and archers, but poorly against specially trained anti cavalry infantry.
Units: Mounted Axeman, Horseman, Cavalry
Ranged Infantry
--Putting a few of these behind your melee units could decide the outcome of a battle very quickly. They have low HP but good damage versus most ground units.
Units: Archer, Longbow Archer, Elven Archer
Anti Cavalry
--Infantry specially armed to deal with the threat of cavalry. They do poorly against all non mounted units.
Units: Spear Thrower, Pikeman, Fire Eater
Siege & Artillery
--These units are armed with the tools to dismantle enemy defenses. Be wary, as although their splash may prove fatal to enemy infantry, they are as good as dead once the enemy gets up close.
Units: Stone Thrower, Battering Ram, Siege Ram
Special Units
--Special units are granted by controlling the bottom lane.
Land Units: Berserker, Heavy Archer, War Elephant
Sea Units: Suicide Boat, Siege Galley, Hive Class Destroyer
That being said, the top lane works a bit differently, using only air units, as it is the sea lane. However, the unit types are about the same, but simplified to three types:
Warship
--The cheapest and most basic ship, they do well versus most ships. Countered by Cruisers. Land one unit.
Units: Light Warship, Glaive Warship, Behemoth Class Warship
Cruiser
--More expensive, stronger ships. Specialize against other ships but useless against buildings. Do not land any forces.
Units: Light Cruiser, Interceptor, Battlecruiser
Bombard Ships
--Bombard ships specialize in destroying enemy towers. However they are very weak versus ships. Land one unit.
Units: Beach Bombarder, Spearhead, Iron Spearhead
Transport
--After you've broken to the enemies defenses, this will land extra troops. However it is useless in combat.
Units: Longboat, Transport Ship, Ironclad Transport
Our current system for making these units involves an air modifier unit (Science Vessel), and a Stargate system. When you first build a Barracks, you must place your Vessel over it and choose a type of unit from those above as listed on the Stargate. (Scout chooses/upgrades Melee Infantry, Corsair chooses/upgrades Cavalry, Carrier chooses/upgrades Ranged Infantry, Arbiter chooses/upgrades Anti Cavalry. Artillery and Siege are chosen/upgrades differently.)
