Omniscience & Love:
Why did God create the tree of evil, knowing we would fall?
Why did God create an angel that would lead a rebellion?
If a man was born without ever having the chance to read the Bible or know it existed, why should he go to hell?

You can shove that in your proverbial back.

@the capitalisation thing

I capitalise Harry Potter's name, and I capitalise God. It's a grammar thing, not a religion thing.

CCC has nothing to do with proper nouns. It's when you start doing it to Him or His.

If he was going to a mormon church, those questions would easily be answered, however I don't think other religions can really answer them, especially the last one.

For my religion, I'd say the first two are part of the Plan of Salvation, as this life on Earth is simply a test, and Adam and Eve could not have children until they left the Garden.

As for the last one, my beliefs don't really have a Hell, at least not like other religions, so it doesn't apply.

Which begs the question why even bother starting at that point then if it was destined to fail. When not start with people like we are now, if that is what it would eventually come to.

One of the only things I respect about the LDS church; Their Afterlife model makes more sense (if only it was in the original bible, and not their own add-on stuff :( )

It was our choice, hence the war in heaven, to come here, we weren't forced to.

Read 1 Cor. 15, it covers a lot of our afterlife reasoning.

Ah, my apologies, I did not see him say that in the post.

I think I'm just going to be grabbing the ten best things I can find here http://www.evilbible.com/Biblical%20Contradictions.htm

Wow, just about everything I just looked up on that website is taken WAY out of context, they'll pwn you if that's the best you can find.

Ya, and a lot of things plain aren't true. (I grabbed a bible, and some of the passages are WAY off.)

"I want to at first appear to be just a curious believer."

Just as Socrates in Athens, Yes?

Socrates unraveled peoples ignorance by asking them questions about their own beliefs.. assuming they Knew the answer to everything (just as they did) he would finally come to a question that they couldn't answer.

Honestly, its the best way to help people. Some people are mislead.. you need to guide them to the door of knowledge. God knows many people have the ability to cognate... they have just been drawn away by the wrong ideologies.

Alright, never mind contradictions. I'm looking for stories in the bible that god just did something terrible that can't be rationalized. So far I have:

2 kings 2:23 - 42 children are fed to bears for calling a man bald.

Genesis 11 - Tower of Babel; god destroying people for coming together. (God must really hate the internet)

Genesis 9:20 - The curse on Ham, for seeing Noah's 'nakedness'

I have 1 hour left to finish.

Jan 21 2009, 10:48 pm MillenniumArmy Post #37

Those are pretty weak arguments... even I could answer them...

Try these, which actually focus on the themes and messages of the Bible:
- The Book of Job. Why did God do what he did to Job in that book, why did God test him and have such bad things happen to him.
- What comes first: having faith, or being saved. Does having faith in Jesus Christ lead to you being saved, or does Jesus Christ offering you a chance of salvation (hence being saved) then lead you to having faith?
- The Book of Revelations... ask them just about, anything you want about that
- Isolatedpurity's questions, all are pretty good ones too
- Why was God so harsh in the Old Testament? This question alone will cover just about everything all the Bible hating websites have to offer.

If you want apologetic responses, this website here gives its thoughts and takes on some of the controversial topics in the Bible

Please.. don't argue for the sake of argument... U already know how irrational some can be.. there's just no budging them... take a look at Westboro baptist church.. The BEST of the best british, well-mannered interviewers lost their temper to those unfaltering, ill-fated people... soooo yeah...

Instead.. focus ur energy onto yourself and find what you can believe and what not to believe, and Hold on to that. Other's opinions are important, but your own is most important.

Well I lucked out because tonight it was really just an overview with introductions. Next week it will really start. Anyways, in a preview of what's to come I did get a chance to get a head start on something that set off the "somethings wring here" alarm in my head. The pastor was touching on why we can't still just be with god, and have our sin. "God is holy, and sin is unholy and is what's separating us from god. Since god is perfect and completely holy, God can not accept you in your default unholy state, or else he wouldn't be holy, he wouldn't be God."

Alright, so that's like saying if I have a friend who is a thief, I could not be friends with him or I would be a thief. I SAY what is wrong with God being holy, and me being unholy? If I was omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent maybe then it would be fair to hold me to your same standard, but if I'm human, accept me as human.

What about in the bible when it says to obey the laws of your land as they are mine, but at the time I beleive it was illegal to work on the Sabbath and Jesus healed that person...idk
