C4 Defense

Description

In General
An original, challenging map involving the use of "C4 explosives" represented by burrowed units. The players must persevere through 20 levels of increasingly harder enemies which are, at some times, coming from all sides. The player is only allowed the use of 6 Remote-controlled C4, 6 Trip-mine C4, and whatever else they buy to their advantage for each level. Both types of C4 are upgradeable, and new types of C4 can be discovered.

Specifications
Tileset: Installation
Map Dimensions: 96x96
Players: 6 Alled Human Players and 2 Computer Players
Genre: Defense/Strategy

Gameplay
The player first chooses which mode they would like to play the game on: Regular Mode or Hard Mode (will be explained later). The player is given a shuttle containing several units, each representing a different type of C4, mine, or other defensive unit. A timer is set to 5:00 (only on the first level however, each level after the first will be set to 3:00). Within this time frame, depending on which mode you are playing on, random entrances will be opened. On the map there are 8 entrances represented by "Pit Doors". The left and right entrances are more challenging because each opens up two separate pathways.

Also within this time frame you must place your C4. C4 may not be placed while enemy units are on the field. However, traps, mines, and other units may. When the timer ends, or when the majority has chosen to set the timer to 0, the wave of enemies will come. The enemies spawn in clearly indicated spawners adjacent to the entrances. As levels increase, the enemies will be stronger, faster, and coming through multiple entrances, making the latter levels very challenging. The player will earn money for each kill they make against these units which, in turn, can be used to buy upgrades and accessories from the shops. The stronger the enemy that one kills, the greater amount of cash they will earn. Any enemies that are not defeated will reach the center. Upon reaching the center, they will subtract from the players' health bar which is shown at the bottom of the battlefield. The lesser the enemy that makes it to the center, the greater the impact will be on the health bar. If the players survive all 20 levels, then they have the option of taking on a secret task.

C4
C4 is the main defensive weapon in the game.
C4 is placed using your shuttle.
You are initially given 2 types of C4: Remote Controlled (RC), and Trip-Mine (Trip)
C4 kills all enemy units in their detonation area, which can be upgraded.
A max of 6 of each type of initial C4 may be placed on the field at one time.
RC C4 is controlled by a Detonator, represented by a siegable tank.
Trip C4 detonates after a set amount of units cross it.
To place C4 on the field does not cost money, however, disarming C4 does, so it must be placed carefully.
Buying new types of C4 has a down payment, however does not cost for each placement.
Important!: All types of C4 are linked! It goes like this:
1 > 2 > 3...>6. Each C4 is dependent on the C4 placed before it. #1 being Independent.
Example: If you detonate C4 #3, with all 6 placed, #'s 3, 4, 5, and 6 will all detonate.
This system can be dreadful, or to your advantage. Be Strategic!

Some of your post begs me to question your understanding of C-4. =P If you're going to use something so well known as C-4, you should prolly reconsider sci-fi effects like "Blackhole C4" and "Reanimate C4." No one's gonna think that works. Perhaps you shouldn't be so limited with your explosive types/names. Even sc maps need some credibility; as soon as you went the science route (C-4 instead of "explosives" etc), you committed to that.

I'll be looking forward to trying it anyhow. Good luck.

*agrees with above*

Otherwise, looks interesting. I don't normally like defense maps, but this one might be an exception.

Oh, how about a burrowed Lurker as a shop item? Or an Infested Terran? (Summon an Infested Terran at your Shuttle when used.)

I know exactly what you mean. I wanted the map to have a comedic and sarcastic affect alongside how challenging it was. Using the map name "Explosives Defense" was way to generic for me. So after playing a game of Call of Duty and taking a look at the C4, I came up with this map name.
However, I will definitely consider renaming the new types. My problem is that I want those explosives to exist in a "C4 upgrades shop" rather than the other item shop.

Thank You very much. :)

@Lurker idea: I was wondering if I should make a lurker. My main dilemma with making a lurker is the use of walling. I'm simply not going to allow walling in this map. The other problem with this idea is the shape of the pathways. Since I went with the isometric routes rather than square routes, a lurker would offset enemy units therefore making it harder to get them back on course.
However the idea is plausible. I could simply make a burrow detector make sure that they did not unburrow their lurker. And I'm coming up with a more less location-intensive idea for moving the enemy units to the center.

@Infested Terran idea: That's a good idea. I could probably even add some effects with it. My only problem with this is that it would be hard to get a my kills to cash method to work with this. But it could just be used as a last chance survival item.

Those are great ideas though. If you have any more I would definitely appreciate them.

This map sounds cool.I would like to test it but unfortunately I don't have enough time for that.

Oh! How about Tear Gas? You buy a Dark Archon which can use Maelstrom and Feedback (if there are any enemies that have energy.) Not sure if it should be a one-shot thing (eg. Both spells cost 250 energy, it starts with 250 energy, and the DA explodes after like 10 seconds) or if it should stay forever.

Thank you for your consideration. If you change your mind I will gladly accept. The more testers the better.

That's a pretty good idea actually (minus the feedback).
it also gave me another good idea. Thank you.
