HI,
I am currently making a Cat n mouse ore warz map and am seriously needing help... before i tell you about it i have to say that i just bought the game after looseing it and getting a better computer and have no mods or anything like that to it except what came with the battle chest....

The map is 256*256 (biggest it can be)

So here are some bugs i encountered while testing it with my 2 bro's.....

1. After about 5-8 mins my 1st bro was 'disconnected'' folowed by the other on in a 30 sec timespan or so...

2. Once we started to expand our bases the cheese walls (protoss pylon) started to only produce half the circle of building area in which you could build on and about 20 later the stopped conpleatly but could still be map.... This also happed with the protoss stargate, and the other one that makes ships but instead of no building space the never fully came out of warp and were just a wast of space and V. gas....

3. Also we had all started to make carriers but after a while the would say "cannot produce unit" but it would still come out just not fire once i built the intorcpters

4. About 20 mins in everything i owned got destroyed and i loss the senario... im not sure if this happed cause i had more that 1 protoss builder and 1 may have died....


Those were the bugs during the first test run... some of them might have been because of building limits but not sure.. also is there a mod or something that most people use because when i would load other C N M maps into the campaingn editor it would say

"this scenario contains 54 units that are invalid or not properly placed. this is most likely a result of a placement error in an older version of the campaign editor. the invalid units have been deleted"

Does anyone have any suggestions or any ideas to help my map work.......

1) Probably a network problem. I never faced a network problem like this before. Can you give further detail?

2) Check your build time

3) Too many units causes this problem. Remove units that you don't need in that map to fix this. It's probably because of the stacked minerals.

4) There is probably a trigger that acts upon you having a death of a probe.

Download this editor and you shouldn't be having those problems.

Uploading the map would be helpful.

Are you sure you made this map, or are you just editing a previous map?

Also, try to write proper sentences so we can understand you better. That way, we can help you without any hassle.

1. im not really sure how to expand on that....

2. :) ok ill try that, it will make my bros happy they were complaining cause it took so long to build everything

3. Is there a way to increase the unit limit... and what do you mean by this "It's probably because of the stacked minerals."

4. Oh ok i think i know of one that would do that ill try to change it and see if it will help at all.

I did take some of the triggers form a map i liked but other than that i started from scratch

No, there is a set limit and you can't change it.

1. What were you doing exactly, when exactly did people drop, is there anything that you think you may have been doing which would have led to the disconnect?

2. Sounds like you hit the image limit. Burning pylons take up 8 images. Check the wiki on "map limits" for the image limit, but it's usually so high that it doesn't matter.

3. No. That's why it's called a limit. Check the wiki again for the limit. If you have stacked minerals, each mineral counts as a unit. If you have 50 in each stack, they add up fast.

4. As a general rule, if something happens and you don't think it should have happened, search for the action in text trigedit (part of scmdraft) and make sure that trigger isn't running when it shouldn't be.

1. We were just making more pylons and gathering Vespeion gas...

2.Well i didn't intend on the burning pylons how do i make that stop???

3. What do you mean by stacked materials?? "If you have stacked minerals, each mineral counts as a unit. If you have 50 in each stack, they add up fast."

4. Ummm don't know what that is "search for the action in text trigedit (part of scmdraft)" im kinda new to all of this and i have windows 7 so for some random reason i dont have the editor help.....

The only message is that they were dropped from the game....

Any add-ons to the map would be greatly appreciated cause im totally open to suggestions so change the map if you want and upload it!!!!

Buildings which build too fast don't have full hp. You have make sure that HP/Build time (in frames) is less than 284. Staredit reports build time in 15*frames. SCMDraft reports build times in frames. Generally a build time of 0 will result in a crash.

In zero clutter maps or fastest maps, you'll notice that you can mine a bunch from one mineral patch. To achieve this, there are ~50 minerals stacked there, so you can have 50 people mining at the same time. You don't have this problem.

It's funny how you both totally ignored the fact that he's just using Staredit and thus can't set invalid build times, stack units, etc.

When your pylons burn through normal gameplay I doubt you'll hit a limit. But when you set the all to 1hp or something, it might become a problem if you have about 100 or more. Simple fix: Set hp to 100%

I opened the map and found nothing suspicious at the first glance.
If you're positive it's your map acting up (and not b.net, hacks or w/e) then you could try remaking it. I can't promise it will help, but there's nothing on it that would take a lot of time. And when you've redone everything else use ScmDraft's text based trigger editor and import the triggers.

Ok well thanks for the help everyone, and once again feel free to mess around with the map and add it to the thread!!!

I will try that new map maker to see if its anybetter :)

If i encounter anymore bugs ill let yall know !!!

he's got 9999 hp pylons with build time of 15, 9999/15=667. He's only actually getting 84 hp per frame, rather than the full 667. the pylons are also destroyable, so he doesn't want them to be constantly set to 100%.

I think wierd things happen when you reach map limits, which could explain dropping.
