Not only that, but did you know they have a law down there that states a person can illegally immigrate there and claim refugee status? For example, let's say there's a war in Cuba and some couple escaped on a boat(not an officially chartered one). If they could set one foot in U.S. land, they could claim refugee status in the U.S. However, most people never make it as armed border guards with rifles and helicopters shoot them full of lead before they can do so. Talk about hypocrisy. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Just so you know, your sucky writing just makes you sound retarded. Might want to try to refine your posts and leave out "LOl"s.
As far as I can tell, one of the following is true: A. You are horribly ignorant. Yes, we are baby sitting in Korea. What happens when the baby sitter leaves? A kidnapper comes. Except in this metaphor the kidnapper doesn't want a ransom, he wants to annihilate South Korea and subsequently the world. This baby sitting job is about as far from useless as it gets. or B. You're basically saying "Screw Korea and all Mexicans can go to hell. Also Canadians because they're practically the same LOl." In which case I can only say that you are the chaff that in my dreams is separated from the wheat of America. Actually, as of now we have an open border with Canada. You do need to apply for residency if you're actually gonna live here, but I would bet all my minerals(though I think they're still negative) that you can't come up with one actual case of some one trying to "sneak in" from Canada. We can pretty much come and go and so can they. It's a pretty nice relationship. However, as of very soon passports will be required to cross over. Kinda puts a tear in my eye. 1. We can't force someone who isn't even a member of our country to fight. It's just wrong. And illegal. 2. If we made it easier to gain access to legal status, we could call them. I'm sure most would jump at the chance to be considered part of this nation. However, this is "amnesty," and amnesty is very very bad.[/sarcasm] 3. Practically speaking, illegal immigrants would make poor soldiers. The language barrier would be a common problem. So would the feeling of "Well you didn't even want me here but now you're forcing me to fight for you? And then what? I'll come back and you'll boot me out to Mexico? I'm not gonna lay my life down for you. I'm running the first chance I get." Hostages don't make good soldiers for their captors. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
The most dangerous weapon anyone can wield is self righteousness.
As far as illegal immigration goes, primarily those of the mexican discent, I have not obtained enough knowledge to hold any highly educated stance upon this issue. But I can say that as far as any stance goes for illegal immigration, I have no problem with them AS LONG AS they abide by this one condition:
English Learn some damn English. Seriously, ok it is fine if you come here to: live legally or not, take jobs most americans don't want, pay or not pay taxes, not pass criminal background checks (well maybe not fine for some of them, but these can be debatable) but PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF MINIMOOSE KNOW SOME ENGLISH!!!! It is a serious hinderance to America if the people/workers here do not know any English. Sure America is multi-cultural, but hey we are an english speaking country. Not saying so is like saying China official language is portuguese. Communication is a key for ANY environment here in America, ESPECIALLY if you are coming here to work under english speaking companies. Here in Texas, like almost half the population here is hispanic, and as you go further south like towards San Antonio, there are scores of spanish speaking people, and even more who know only english. I am sure the same applies for other places like california and such. I would not like to bring a translator with me everywhere I go. Now don't give me that "Oh but you gotta feel it for these people! You're asking too much of them if you want them to learn english!" First of all: rules are rules. If you are asking us to make exceptions for these people, then why dont we go ahead and make exceptions for everything, including other issues which might even be bigger or more controversial? The fact that we are letting illegal immigrants, people who do not belong in this country, stay right now is already creating a HUGE exception for our nation's policies. Infact, i find this quite ironic how some people who fall on the pro-illegal immigration side also hold views over other issues where rules/laws/rights are absolute and must under no circumstances or exceptions be broken, which contradicts their way of thinking when it comes to illegal immigration. And secondly, if we were to migrate to another country, say china, we're going to have to learn their language if we want any hope of living a decent life there. Ok, if you are an old person who just cant possibly hope to learn anymore english, then ok you can come live here. But if you are coming here to establish a mutual relationship with America, such as working/interacting with others which happens to be the ultimate reason for why these illegals are here in the first place, then learn some damn english. You don't necessarily have to be able to read; you just have to be able to speak and more importantly understand english. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yay more people who keep calling other people names. Ok let's break down your quote's
2 and 3, really make no sence. If Illegal Immigrants are here in the USA and are here working. what keeps them from not paying or doing what we have to do?, do you not understand that? like is your brain on? Can we talk? instead of type. Because If my typing is so horrible let's talk then add Kaokenshin@hotmail.com ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

You don't necessarily have to be able to read; you just have to be able to speak and more importantly understand english. Do you know how difficult it is to learn a second language? It's not easy. It's almost impossible without a class. Classes cost money. Guess what kind of jobs illegal immigrants get? I'll give you a hint. They don't pay lots of money. Try taking a class while supporting a family on [sometimes less than] minimum wage. Now, if the government were willing to set up programs to make it at least a little easier to learn English, then that would be great. But remember kids, illegal immigrants are very bad and we should never ever help them, especially not with the tax money[debt] of the real Americans.[/sarcasm] Now don't give me that "Oh but you gotta feel it for these people! You're asking too much of them if you want them to learn english!" First of all: rules are rules. If you are asking us to make exceptions for these people, then why dont we go ahead and make exceptions for everything, including other issues which might even be bigger or more controversial? Ok. Speaking English is not a rule. Anybody can speak whatever language they want. There's no rule against speaking in Spanish or not knowing English. I don't know how you thought that there was a "rule" about speaking English. SteamBoy: Your stupidity and arrogance is just appalling. I won't bother trying to reply. I will give you a couple answers though. I know what Lol is, but it justs make you sound stupid when you use it the way you do. This really isn't a "Lol" sort of issue. You're only being distasteful. Ignorant means that you aren't aware of something. You were (and apparently still are) ignorant about the Korean situation. I will explain 2 and 3 again for you. 2. Currently, it takes time and money to get from Mexico to the US. The main reason people come here is because they the latter (or, to reword that, they lack money). As a result, they just walk over. We could just say, "Alright, come in and file for your legal status now," but this is called amnesty. For some reason, a lot of people think this is a really bad idea (I think it's cool.). 3. What I'm trying to say is that if you forced illegal immigrants to be soldiers, it would work out very bad. They would be unmotivated, feel under-appreciated and have a generally bad attitude. This means that desertions, or even revolt against Commanding Officers is likely. Makes sense, doesn't it? Unfortunately, we cannot tax illegal immigrants because they are not citizens. If we did the whole amnesty things, they would be and we could tax them. Again, people don't like this so it's not happening. No, we can't talk. I don't see any reason that your talking would be any less idiotic than your typing. They both draw from the same argument, the same brain. Sorry if I'm flaming just a bit, but I don't see any better way to lay it out for you. Your original argument was horrible (because of ignorance, I assumed); I attempted to clear things up for you; and you just won't listen. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
The most dangerous weapon anyone can wield is self righteousness.
In short, our troops are hyper-extended. Seriously? Withdraw from Korea? Aw hell no. Honestly, if you're so concerned about it, why did you stop at the draft?
At least I have a reason why I can't enlist, and heck, I don't even need to sign the selective service, because I'm a chick, but in 545 days, I have ever intention of looking back into the service. There is a small chance I will wait until I'm older, say mid twenties, but even if I complete college you won't catch me dead in OCS. Anyways, I'm ranting. But I feel somewhat justified, since all things considering...I just found out that if I had enlisted previous, I would've been deployed last week. Ironic, ain't it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Considering the North Koreans are the biggest back stabbers on Earth, it is a bad a idea.
Also considering that we don't even have 1000 soldiers there, it's worth it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
The most dangerous weapon anyone can wield is self righteousness.
To: Frazz
From: Steamboy People calling me Ignorant/Stupid - for typing "Lol" is kind of stupid in it's own personal reason. I have a right to pursue happiness, In witch the "3" Letters "Lol" make me happy to type. Witch respresents Laughter. If that makes me Ignorant by your own point of view, I feel sorry that you cannot be happy within yourself. Another Point, quote = Frazz Ignorant means that you aren't aware of something. /quote Calling me Ignorant about Korea, Tell me what is our troops doing there? people say " To protect South from the North", I can say for myself, If North did anything to South Korea, Bye bye North Korea. In that case, Everyone who is for Illegal Immigrants are vary Ignorant. This post was edited 1 time, last edit by SteamBoy: Oct 26 2007, 6:00 am.

SB: I never called you stupid. I said that you were making yourself look dumb by typing Lol all the time, and that it is very distasteful in a topic such as this.
Please look up the definition of ignorant. I can tell you that: a: We won't do anything. Nobody wants to risk their lives for someone else's. Nobody's going to volunteer to go help out the South Koreans being genocided. and b: I bet you wouldn't volunteer to go into a death pit like that. People would die all over the place. Hundreds of thousands of suicide prepared soldiers descending on the civilian people of SK(South Korea) would be a massacre. Even if there was international assistance, just as many people would die. Civilians, North Koreans, international assisting soldiers. The death would be horrible, it wouldn't be fun. It wouldn't be good, and we'd just fall back after a few thousand of our soldiers died (even though tens of thousands more civilians had died). That's why we should just nuke NK. (<- personal opinion, please don't debate) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
The most dangerous weapon anyone can wield is self righteousness.
