So, I switched my known good free after rebate PSU into my dad's computer, and took his newer free after rebate PSU. I was worried his problem was in the motherboard, but thankfully my computer just shut off and won't start up again.
I need a new power supply, and with /g/ down I can't bug them.
As there's NUMEROUS PSU companies to deal with, I feel fine sifting through most of them. I've narrowed my search down to Corsair, PC P&C, Silverstone, and earthwatts. I feel it should probably be 80+ certified too.
This is a call to anyone who has an opinion, or happens to know a really good deal on a PSU. Hopefully I'll have it ordered by Monday. I find it's always good to get some advice before buying, even if you are proficient in building computers.
As for price range, remember I'm replacing a free one. Let's try to keep it under $80.

My old PSU had 28 amps on the 12 V rail, and was QUITE impressive for being free. According to some reviews I read of my gpu, it really needs over 25 amps. Since my old PSU only had one 12 V rail, and my GPU only has one 6 pin 12 V input, I don't really know how to handle these new PSUs which have 2. Can it draw the required amperage from a single 6 pin connector, even though most are rated at under 20 amps + 20 amps?

Not saying anything bad about the Antec though, it's definitely solid, but when it comes to PSUs Corsair is a beast.
Between the two, I think the 54$ free shipping Corsair is a steal, while the Antec will be more future proof. If you want something higher, let me know and I'll have another look.

I'm sort of wanting a modular PSU, but since I'm getting a PC-K7B for christmas, I don't think it will matter much.
Holy crap @ that corsair. I'd like to eventually upgrade my graphics to a more recent 4xx0 ATi card, and mobo/processor too, so I'm looking around for how to power said GPU.

My 4870 1GB is running like a trooper. No complaints here. 4850s are cheap as hell. I'd say crossfire 2 4850 1GBs and enjoy.
Yeah, Corsair is great. This is the one I plan on getting soon. It doesn't fit into your budget, but it looks great!

Well, you said you're trying to keep it around $80, and this is over, but I think if you want modular cables two PCI-E cables(so you won't have to use adapters), a brand like Seasonic(not that the previously recommended Corsair is bad. If I remember correctly that model of Corsair PSUs isn't a rebranded Seasonic which some of the higher Corsair models are), a quiet PSU, more poweful PSU etc. you should consider spending a bit more to satisfy your needs.

I'm running an E2140 at 100% OC (3.2GHz), 2x1GB DDR2 800, my HD 4870 1GB, SB Audigy ZS, Wireless card, 2 HDDs a DVD drive and a burner off of a Seasonic 550w with no issues. I think the Antec and maybe even the Corsair could handle your build with 2 4850s but that's speculation. For something a little more beefy you could try this:

Too good a price on that corsair, and I hadn't realized that I can easily convert a molex into pcie connector. Honestly, this whole new split rail seems stupid. I'm going to put in my order for it tomorrow.
There's never any reason for xfire when a single card is similarly priced. It's not only cheaper, but usually faster.

From what I've read, the split rail systems are supposed to be a safety feature. They have each 12V rail limited to no more than 20 amps.
