Hello

http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/9027/chessw.jpg

I think this works, black MUST move his King, else he would get ownd by the rook, and for the case he would move it the bishop or knight will defeat him. There is no way for Black to win (probably).

I'll try the map later to see if that is what the triggers let through. In the meantime, it doesn't actually generate a checkmate cause the queen can block the check like in the picture attached, so it is not a checkmate.

Hello

oh shit, that's right... going to give it a try once again. Hold on.

EDIT:

http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/2118/chess2c.jpg

The Cycles displays where what figure stands and the colored rectangles shows in what area they can go.
Think this is right: he would have to kill my bishop, but he can't, therefor he has to move his king, but whereever he moves it he's defeated. Or? :omfg: :bleh:

The problem with that is the rook can't move through the bishop, so the king can move down-left to escape check. If the rook could be on the opposite side where the pawn is you would have a check, like the picture attached.
It seems like the only way to cause checkmate is by capturing one of the black's pieces.

Hello

Oh I completly forgot that they cannot wal over each other :S
also, going to give it another try. Are you 100% sure that this is the real placement of the SC board ingame?

Hello

My brother and I have tested many many ways and no success.
Also sure you given us the right units? (bishop, knight, rook)?

Please report errors in the Staredit.Network forum.

I'll check all the units and placements again tonight, but I'm certain their right.
The players in the bottom were the first three on the left, p1 (red) was rook, p2 (blue) was knight, and p3 (green) was bishop.

I just checked it in game and that layout is correct. Here's a screen cap of the room to confirm. We've had a bunch of people look at the problem now and no one can get it - I think that the answer in game is not actually a checkmate. It's too bad we can't get past this room, I wanted to see the rest of the map because everything up to this point was really well done. Especially the music note room!

You can move the queen to block the rook. It's not Checkmate. EDIT: I see you figured this out on your own.

There are actually only two solutions to this puzzle. I came up with it myself. Here's a hint: Both solutions are a mirror of each other horizontally around the king.

Hello

SPOIL BELOW SPOIL BELOW SPOIL BELOW SPOIL BELOW SPOIL BELOW

Another hint KK just gave me:
Quote
[00:09] KhaosKreator1: [...]you need to put the rook right beside the king (to the left or the right)
[00:09] devourer: directly next to him?
[00:09] KhaosKreator1: yes

Good luck, ajexcode, going to give it a try as well.

EDIT: Yay, got it.
