Introduction

I had nearly given up making maps in favor or more constructive uses of my time, but then a good e-buddy of mine by the name of Polkaman had this cool map about hunting with defilers and stuff. I saw this map, and I had a really cool idea. I had to return to the Draft to pop out one more map. After 48 + 4-5 hours of cruel and intense e-labor, I present to you: Explosion Slaughter Arena 2!

Gameplay

As the name implies, this game is all about explosives killing things and there is an Arena. You control a defiler that has two different modes: Explosives and Sword Modes respectively. Building a shuttle will toggle which mode you are in. Each mode allows for different abilities to be used as you brave the battlefield in hopes of not dying. These are the basic abilities:

Key:
Used while in Explosive mode.
Used while in Sword mode.
How to use ability

Explosion: Cast Dark Swarm at Location

This ability targets an explosion at whichever location you aim at. An explosion will only happen if you aim on solid ground. Explosions aimed in the water, or on edges of land will not go off. There is a ~.4Second Delay if you use one explosion, and the delay will increase with each explosion you use in quick succession. If many people are targeting one area with a large number of explosions, the delay time on the actual exploding can reach up to 5-7seconds, but it rarely gets that high.

EDIT: In #2, the explosion delay cap has been lowered. Also, in the event of explosions exceeding ~1.6second delay, the timer runs twice as fast to ensure that explosions keep happening in a timely manner. There will never be more than a ~3.4 Second wait for explosions to go off.

Stacked explosions will make it difficult for people using the sword style to deflect your attacks, but since they detonate from the leftmost explosion to the rightmost, you can use this knowledge to your advantage to time your sword deflections when being attacked by an explosion-spamming noob ^^.

Place / Detonate Remote control Mine: Build Reaver

A remote control mine is placed at your location. Building a second Reaver results in the detonation of said mine. Detonated mines will anyone near them including yourself, so you must be careful while using them. Although people can see when you first place the mine, they are hidden shortly after and very useful for setting a trap if you can keep an eye on anyone who happens to step over it.

EDIT: I forgot to say something about these. They cannot be parried with sword deflection, nor can they be blown up by explosions. They will, however, be nullified if you change to sword mode.

Blade Trap: Burrow

Burrowing your defiler while the sword is equipped activates the blade trap. As long as you remain burrowed, any enemy that wonders too close to your location will be killed via blades. You must re-activate the ability each time you slay an enemy, but be careful because an explosion can still be aimed at your location.

EDIT: Please note that it is still possible to use the deflection technique while blade trap is enabled. This is extremely effective defense, but you are still vulnerable to special attacks if your opponents know your location. You can also switch to explosive mode while blade trap is enabled, but it will disable automatically.

Also, kills made by you using the blade trap technique count double in terms of special meter reward and score.

Deflection: Build Reaver

If you think you have awesome timing skills, you can deflect explosions that are aimed at your location. Use this ability right before an explosion goes off in your immediate area to deflect the explosion. You will be unharmed, and your assailent has a chance to get owned by a chain reaction that will go flying off away from you.

EDIT: You will find it hard to spam this technique in hopes of getting lucky with a successful deflection because the command is trigger for this technique is disabled if you use it while the effect is in place. I'm sorry, you're going to have to learn some sick timing in order to astound the noobs who think they have good aim with explosions back in their face. Also, please note that there is no limit to how many people the chain reaction can kill, but it's one of the only techniques in the game where the explosions won't kill you, so don't worry if you go near your own chain reaction.

In addition to these basic abilities, you have access to two special techniques (one for Explosives Mode, one for Sword Mode). Specials require you to have your specials meter filled - and you can fill your meter by collecting trophies dropped by enemies when they die. It takes three throphies to fill a specials meter, but you can also fill it by winning a duel in the Arena. (More on that later) When you use a special technique, your meter will become empty and you can begin to fill it again.

Specials Techniques are as follows:

Satellite Laser: Build Observer

You will have observers that follow all your enemies for a few seconds before targeting an explosion at their location. The explosion has a delay similar to that of normal explosions, except it never increases in length. The Sattelite will automatically find all possible targets and also reveal the location of defilers that are burrowed (Hiding).

EDIT: Please note that Satellite Laser cannot be deflected by the deflection technique no matter how good your timing is.

Steel Vortex: Build Observerr

This special creates a deadly vortex over your defiler for about 3.5 seconds. This vortex will pull any nearby enemies toward it's center, and if they reach the center, they are killed. This move dominates close encounters, but you will be extra vulnerable to explosions since you move slower while the vortex is active.

Features

Arena
Even though this is a FFA game for up to 7 players, it is possible to have an un-interupted duel in the middle of a match if someone is talking major shit, or if you just feel like proving your skill. To enter the arena, you and your opponent must each stand at one of the entrances (Marked by protoss beacons). From there, you will be warped into the Arena and not allowed to leave until only one player remains. Winners of the Arena gain the Champion's Throne (Just a way of showing your awesome,) and upon exiting the Arena will receive 5 trophies and a full special meter.

Perfect Respawn
The respawn system in this map will ensure random placement when you respawn. To prevent camping, the game will not spawn you at a location if there is an enemy who has either already spawned at that location, or an enemy hiding at that location. In a normal match, there are ten possible respawn locations spread throughout the map.

1v1 Adjustment
The play area and Respawn system adjust when the game starts with only 2 players. You play against eachother in the Arena (a much smaller space compared to the whole map) to ensure intensity in your fight.

Two ways to Victory
You can win the game in one of two ways. The first is to be the first player to gather 21 trophies, and the second way is to have the most trophies at the end of twelve minutes. No game will last longer than 12 minutes to ensure that matches never drag out.

Improved Map Mobility

In #2, there is a beacon in the center of the battlefield that can warp you to one of 4 possible locations on the outskirts of the battlefield. Your destination will be random, so use this feature wisely.

Someone else's special moves (Blue explosion) owning me.

Conclusion

So, enjoy my map. I'm pretty sure that this will be the final version, unless some serious bugs arise, but I tested it pretty extensively, so I don't think you'll have any issues. Please give this map a try, it's actually pretty intense and how to say....

Easy to learn, yet hard to Master

p.s. If you're not interested yet, I'm trying to get some more intense screen shots so hang tight :stfu: !!

It is awesome =) you should make time though because a match take less than 10 minutes, so it'll be worth your time.

Ok ok, after some serious testing, I made some changes in the game and relesed V1.2.

Here are the list of improvements:

•Fixed visual presentation of torches in center area of map
•Deflection technique is now easier to use, and will protect you even more when used successfully.
•Deflected shot now kills in a greater range
•Remote control mines now detonate a larger range
•Improved respawn system to scan a larger area for enemies before putting you back in the battle.
•Decreased maximum delay time on explosions.

DL IN THE OPENING POST!
