So im making a map out of the mini game Blitzball, which was on Final Fantsey X (blitzball is just like polo, football and soccer mixed together)
i want to make this map intense, but also very functional and fun
the problem i have, is that the only way i can think of for shooting/passing the ball, is using dark swarm. defilers are slow and boring to use in an intense sport.
i want to replace the defiler with another ground unit that is faster and more fun. i have a method of shooting, but i dont have any way to pass the ball. this would be using a unit like a up'd ling or zealot which ofc has no spells or anything i can aim
so i have 2 questions.
Would a map with the defilers be just as fun as with fast moving units?
and are there any practical ways to pass the ball to another player?
None.
Wasn't blitzball turn based though? You could use dropships/overlords/shuttles and then if you drop a unit it would pass the ball, another would shoot the ball. I recommend looking at MilleniumArmy's basketball map, it has a system like that.
None.
Yeah i was thinkin dropships or bunkers. i assume you would have to have a drop ship hotkeyed for this to work. i played a mario kart game a few years ago that relied heavily on that
do you have a copy of that map i can get? i dont see it in the dldb
and yes blitzball was turn based. im making it similar, only not turn based. the ball carrier will be slighly slower than the units chasing him, forcing him to have to use team work to get the ball to the other side. if the opponent kills them, they drop the ball and respawn in the middle
None.
I don't have the map anymore but I'm sure if you asked around or asked MilleniumArmy he wouldn't mind giving you the map. I think he made it at least, don't quote me on that, I haven't played that game in forever lol. I'm also saying you could physically use the dropship as the unit, but I'm not sure how that would work if with multiple players.
None.
well, drop ships are too slow moving for what im trying to get, and then i'd have to set like 40 locations to prevent them from going out of bounds
i think i might use a bunker/dropship hotkey system. im kinda scared that if i do that tho, people will be too confused to use it

You could use the 2x speed trick to speed up the defiler/dropship/whatever you decide to use
To do this trick, you must have a player 14 map revealer placed somewhere on the map, and it must be the first unit placed on the map.
Any units placed after it will move at double speed.
None.
i thought about that. but heres the thing; there are a lot of things that change when that happens. though i think i might make a fast version with the system i got goin now.
