Norm -- Metal was given birth to by Black Sabbath. Nothing else. Get your wiki garbage out of here.
Sen, is metal a genre of rock? Or is metal standalone?
I am 100% sure that metal is a genre under rock. Amirite?
None.
inb4 metalhead shitstorm because metal sucks.

inb4 metalhead shitstorm because metal sucks.
I am confused.
are you saying: "inb4 Metalhead shit storm "because metal sucks"
or
"inb4 metal head shit storm because i think metal sucks"
None.
Inb4 a bunch of metalheads come in here about why metal doesn't suck when I know for a fact that it does despite their opinions or anyone elses.
Metal is not far away from Rock but I think that Metal is an own genre.
I prefer metal.
Please report errors in the Staredit.Network forum.
People have different definitions of everything.
I think Metal is a brother of Rock, but things can certainly be Rock /and/ Metal.
None.
Indeed, Metal is Rock's brother, And it was NOT BORN FROM ROCK. The values, music, and lifestyle of metal is far too different from Rock to be a son.
Oh, And I love metal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
None.
Relatively ancient and inactive
... Does it matter at all what an arbitrary genre hierarchy says? Does this really deserve a thread? HAY GUYS DO U THINK HAVING SIX TOES IS GOOD?
Also, I think, Norm, you're slightly... weird. Values and lifestyle of metal? It's a musical genre, not a religion. And first person who tries to be cool by disagreeing with me on this point, I steal a cookie from them.
None.

I wonder if you noticed that the topic wasn't actually about how good or bad metal is, but rather whether it's a genre of rock or not.
On topic; why does it matter? IMO Metal was created through rock, just like how rock was created through the blues. I'm not exactly the most musically knowledgable genre wise, but I always found you could trace the sounds back like that.
None.

Ah, Iron Butterfly pushed out baby Metal,
duh. (lol)
Besides, Blues = Rock N' Roll/ Metal/ Everything else that matters in today's music.
None.

So your saying I am correct?
BAGLES is Sens resident metal head master. Therefore I must be correct.
None.
The music, the artists and the fans.
First came the folk, then the blues, then the rock, then the hard rock, then the metal.
None.
No no no. Both Metal AND Rock came from blues.
It went like this:
Blues --->Rock ------------->
Blues --------------->Metal->
_______Timeline________>
NOT
Blues --->Rock---->Metal->
_______Timeline________>
None.
No, that's not true at all Norm. Blues didn't turn into metal. Rock turned into metal.
None.
Prove it.
Edit: A lot of people think Metal came from rock just because some of the early metal bands had some Rock influence, but it's not a direct transformation, because Metal was born from the same Genre as rock was, hence the same standard instrument selection.
None.
so its safe to assume (excluding nobodys) sen agrees with me?
None.
You made the original claim, burden of proof is on you. Provide some sources or fuck off.
Metals are chemical elements whose atoms readily lose electrons to form positive ions (cations), and form metallic bonds between other metal atoms and ionic bonds between nonmetal atoms.
Rocks are naturally occurring solid aggregate of minerals and/or mineraloids.
Rocks are composed of minerals, which frequently contain metals. However, metals are not made of rocks. While a rock can be composed of a metal, a metal is not composed of rocks.
Therefore, rock comes from metal.
