The sword and the faith

I love DOTA, have been playing like a fanatic recently. I play APEM 5v5s mostly. I like the 6v6 map as well when bot-hosted but due to warden most of them are down.

Coheed.@Azeroth, main heroes are Jakiro, Omniknight, and Vengeful Spirit. Add me up.

Some shots of recent stuff:

Due to my play style with Jakiro I'm wondering if they should call him a farmer instead of a support hero. :X

Anyone else play? Post your acct/server and shots. :)

The learning curve is too steep for me, but I still have fun losing. My builds always fail :rip:

I must have played 50 games in total, and I haven't improved at all.

I can help you depending on what heroes you play. There's a lot of common sense stuff most people don't think of that helps too.

I did. Check the first post man. :P

Also Clans, I must have played Jakiro at least 200 times before I started getting my now 10-0 games out of him. Getting comfortable with a single or small group of heroes takes time.

Last hero i tried to learn was litch.

I always go for yasha, then that other one, and then the fusion yasha thing.

... no matter what hero I pick.

SnY is a mediocre item on 90% of heroes. I really hope you didn't try that on lich. Also, sometimes a build can work on multiple heroes, but it's a stretch, and even then it wont work on every hero. I know with SC strat you have an alternate style which is ok for SC but when you're playing DOTA you need to be good enough to do a standard build before you can go off trying funky shit.

Mmm, been a while since last time I played DotA. Never tried it online, just on LAN and vs bots. My favorite heroes would probably be Sand King and Spiritbreaker + Goblin Techies for teh lulz :P

I've been playing a lot recently, primarily as the Phantom Assassin.

That said, if my team can hang on without much help from me for the first 20 minutes, we almost always win. I rape late-game.

Perhaps we should play sometime?

None.

DotA is like the only game everyone plays here in the Philippines :bleh: It's getting annoying, actually.
I just hate it when people think they're so pro and thrash talk like crazy. Well yeah, most players are good on pub games, but I bet they won't stand a chance with foreign players or when they're on a tourney.
I play mostly on Garena servers and usually just with my friends. On the Philippine Rooms anyone you get to play with is either a noob, a thrash talker, or both. Typically, they would call everyone a faggot, a noob and a cheater for no reason at all, just because they think they look cool doing it. Heh, bastards.

Enough of my rant now though.

I usually -random when choosing heroes and am fond of playing other roles other than chasing and killing heroes.
When I'm in the mood for killing and the mode is -ap, I pick Drow Ranger, focus on first and third skill and get the last skill whenever possible. My build centers around on Power Treads, two Wraith Bands, Lothar's Edge, Butterfly and the last slot for anything I need depending on the situation.

I play a little Windrunner and Axe sometimes. I'm not too good with using combo skills so I use the heroes with more straightforward ones :bleh:

Heh, we're opposites Marxel. I am such a combomaster you'd think I have a custom macro key for when I play Jakiro. Actually, that isn't a bad idea. :sly:

If anyone wants to play, add me Coheed.@Azeroth (Don't forget the period in there.) and let me know who you are. I play very odd hours, sometimes 2-8pm EST or 2-8am EST. :P

Can somebody explain somethings that Dota has that TS don't? Because, when SC2 comes, I don't want anyone to take that spot except TS... So I need to know what makes Dota so so so addicting... some advice would be great =)
It's impossible for me to actually get WCIII and play it tho :C...

Let me show you how to hump without making love.

I play DotA a lot as well, my main is most likely... Atropos would be an appropriate assumption as my best.

I do ArEm though, more fun and a challenge. Prevents people from getting Axe every game.

Nested victories.

If you force a hero to heal by dealing a lot of damage to him, you gain a big advantage doing so. It takes longer to heal the more hurt you are. Spawns are not feed, they deal a good amount of damage even unattended. Hero spells can be upgraded and don't require any specific order. Heroes can purchase items which make lots of different builds viable.

Many more heroes, obviously.

It runs on a more powerful engine than SC. Which is why DotA is capable of more things such as custom spells, many heroes, tons of switchable modes. But it ultimately comes down to 'more powerful engine'. Don't worry. SC2 will use a more powerful engine than WC3.

Oh and, for newbies Abaddon, Drow, Axe, Nightbringer are good choices. Fairly easy, very powerful (and rigged). As for Abaddon, there were cases of 31 kills and 0 death.

I used to play quite a lot, but I haven't recently.. I don't think I've played since 6.51 or thereabouts. There's a 6v6 version now?

I disagree.. unless something has changed it takes skill to play him well (and then it's ridiculous). In general, it's hard to start learning to play DotA with melee heroes.

I like the Sniper, but against good opponents I tend to fall victim to his crappy movespeed. Getting chased down across the map by the Na'ix sucks.
