I listen to instrumental music while I do work. Worded music distracts me.

I've been sticking to mostly game music lately, but there is much in the realm of classical music and contemporary instrumentals that I haven't tried.

Any suggestions?

(I will acquire the music you suggest in a perfectly legitimate manner, of course! :stfu: )

On iTunes there's an album of music called "50 classical pieces" or something like that. I got it from them for only $12, and it was for all 50.
Your could just look in the classical section of iTunes in general.

A good cellist is Yo-Yo Ma.

Thanks for suggestions, guys.

(the HARP!!!)
Speaking of the harp, have you ever seen Harpo Marx play the harp? In one of his movies, he plays the harp and whistles a complimentary tune to the one being played on the harp, both at the same time. Amazing stuff. The harp is already known to be one of the more difficult instruments.

I will try all of these guys out.

ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO

Miles Davias, John Coltrane, Jazz/blues in general, big band might also work but it's a bit more strong (as in noise-wise) than the previous two. I find it rather inspiring and motivative, though.

fuck you all

Many of Senmuth (except Resonans, Soznanie Bitiya, Nasledie) - his 2008 works and Planetary Dust are better than his old ones.
The Witcher - A Lonely Journey to the Land of Oblivion
Jaaportit - Kauas Koskematon (mostly) and Uumenista
Nest - Woodsmoke and Trail of the Unwary (somewhat, only whispered vocals, and rarely)
Neun Welten - Vergessene Pfade
October Falls - Tuoni, Marras, Sarastus
Abstract - Fragmenthea
Sungate - Twillight of the Gods and Neverending Silence of Pompee

Here's a list from a lot of genres, have fun.

Liquid Tension Experiment, who are a Dream Theater offshoot. But if you're used to game music, you might not find it along your lines.

If anything cool is ever going on Skype me up under the name "blarghle"

Either Yo-Yo Ma playing Bach's six unaccompanied cello suites or Glenn Gould's Goldberg Variations should do.

I would say to go to this guys channel on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/herecomesmongo79

i like to listen to the jazz funk songs which are for the most part all insturmentals

I would recommend you get a lot of pink floyd for songs such as
Any Color You Like
One of these Days
Echos
Green is the Colour
Cluster One
Marooned
Atom Heart Mother Suite(this is kinda classical)
Saucerful of Secrets
Innersteller Overdrive
Shine on You Crazy Diamond (all parts)

Also i would recommend getting into a band called Radiohead, i bet you've heard of them. They play kind of a brittsh modern psychedelia type of deal.

Theres this really good superjazz group named Fourplay. They're a classic jazz set of four people. I have a couple of cds of theirs, and they are excellent. One of my favourites of theirs is a song called Wish You Were Here, u can see it on youtube here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1gL5cU-vBE&feature=related

I also like to occasionally listen to Sonic the Hedgehog music. Its actually pretty well thought out and complex. Especially the music from number 3

Below ill just list off a bunch of other insturmentals by various artists i know that you may like
No Quarter - Led Zeppelin
The Rain Song - Led Zeppelin
Carouselambra - Led Zeppelin
All My Love - Led Zeppelin(these 4 rly aren't insturmentals but they play a lot more than they sing)
Bron-Yr-Aur - Led Zeppelin
Moby Dick - Led Zeppelin (great drum solo btw)
YYZ - Rush
2112 - Rush
Twlight Touch - Fourplay
Sound Check [Gravity] - Gorilliaz
Double Bass - Gorilliaz
John Butler Trio - Ocean
Celestial - P.O.D.
Space Funk - 311
Coda - 311
Cali Soca - 311
Ari's Eyes - Victor Wooten
Heart of the Sunrise - Yes (has long insturmental sections mixed w/ singing sections)
Mood for a Day - Yes
Fanfare for the Common Man - Emerson Lake & Palmer
On an Island - David Gilmour
Treefingers - Radiohead
Pretty Little Ditty - RHCP
Song That Made Us What We Are Today - RHCP
Salute to Kareem - RHCP
To Zanarkand - FF10

theres a bunch more i always forget, but i cant think right now, im pretty tired. ill put up some more as i remeber more

i hope this helps btw :D

Steve Vai and Joe Satchriani Satriani have a lot of instrumentals.

Tommy Tallarico - Falling / Subterranean
Megadriver - Hedgehog Metal / Fillmore

Yoko Kanno has a lot of instrumental stuff, if you happen to like anime or videogames. There's also Yanni and Kitaro, that I know of ( and quite unrelated to the first I mentioned ) .
I'm a fan of the Diablo II soundtrack, short as it is.
I've an album of instrumental Stanley Jordan covers of popular songs, including stuff by The Beatles, Stairway to Heaven, and... I forget what else. I think that's most of what he does, though I'm not sure. In any case, I can't recall any non-instrumentals by him. Should be good if you like guitar.

Quote
2112 - Rush
Only Introduction, Discovery, and Grand Finale are instrumental...
