Space Ship RPG

Story
This takes place in the future (date not found yet) In the Ghale sector in some galaxy (precise place not found yet). The space federation is having problems with an extremist group (group name and purposes are yet to be found, too) and they need help. It is why they made ''Wraith'' Soldiers (They can be compared to the spartans in Halo). Theese soldiers are their last hope against the never-ending attacks of the enemy.

The story is far from completion, I had just this hazy idea when i made the map. But there will be more.

Map Specifications:
Size: 256/256
Players (suggested): 1-5 (2-5)
Computers: 3
Tileset: Space

Characters:
  • Federation ''Wrath'' Soldier (You're character)
  • Duran *
  • Kerrygan *
  • Montag *
More are to be added.
* Means that the character is subject to change.

You will not change weapons in this map. Therefore, you won't have to change weapons. But there will be upgrades.

Vehicles:
  • ''Colossus'' Carrier Type - This is you're Space Ship, the most powerful one in the federation's fleet. It is used as a carrier and can contain up to four smaller fighter for bigger encounters. (Battle Cruiser)
  • ATS ''Pocket Bomber'' Fighter - This fighter can defend itself from air encounters, but its Explosive Laser Bombs are definately made to bomb light to medium fortifications. (Tom Kasansky)
  • ATA ''Iron Spray'' Fighter - This fighter is a bit bulky and is not a must for dogfights, but it is the best the federation has to offer and is the best for reducing heavy ships as well as many fighters to metal chunks. (Valkyrie)
There may be more.

Features:
  • System that enables any palyer to pilot any pilotable ship in the map.
  • Dropship System to prevent the ''Wtf didnot wanted to enter here'' Effect.
  • Ability to carry one medpack for when its hot (used by the dropship System)
  • Well-Made cinematics to introduce the players to the galactic situation.

In this map, you will be able to enter/exit any wehicle at anytime, of course you will want to stay inside the fighters when in a battle, and you will have to exit them to enter critical buildings or when entering areas with lots of AA weapons.
Easy 2-button dropship system is used for simple gameplay (may add more if needed)
The cinematics will be a better way than reading 8 lines of story at each event.

This is the introduction area.


This is me, preparing a fighter for launch by unloading stukov from the overlord.


The fighter is prepared.


Now, I am entering the fighter.


To prevent bugs, i added this so you return to the platform if you try to exit on unwalkable terrain.


You got to enter this ship and destroy the power generator.


This is the first enemy you got to kill. The best strategy is to kill both ghost before leaving the fighter.


I was saying this map is hard and requires micro, well this is one example of this,


There, you die instantly if you attack all the units with ''Attack Move''. You need to lure them one by one and kill em alone. After doing this, you got only 50 HP out of 200 remaining.


This is after destroying the generator. You are given the ''Colossus'' Space ship.


This is after seeing the ship. It introduces you to the second part of the game.


This is the sphere, the federation's HQ in the Ghale sector. It requires more sprites/buildings/units to give a better aspect.


To enter the ship, you got to get under it and unload Stukov (The Action button).


This is the ship's interior.


This is the teleporting room. You are ''Beamed Up'' Here when you enter the ship. You also exit the ship here


This is where you enter fighters and leave the ship. You can also be repaired by the SCV's in the middle.

The 2 next picture shows what happens when you go on the location to pilot the ship.




When you first enter the ship, you are heading here for the first mission. This is an enemy platform surrounded by anti-air batteries. The challenge is to find the best entrance.


This is the only way to enter the platform without being smoked.


This is the enemy squad thet you must destroy with the space ship. They are walking on the best symbol to represent baddies ^^ .


It is pretty eazy to destroy them with a 1-hiting BC...


This turret wall means you need to go on foot.

There you get info about entering the building (yes, with the action button)


Thats Inside the building. You got to destroy the power generator to accomplish the first mission.


Last screenshot, it shows how you can destroy the power generator using the high terrain... I need help for solving this problem... any one got an idea???

Thats it for now, I think its enough screenshots for the part i made so far. It's my biggest project ever.

lol, that may be because he is proud of his work. I never really liked building on space terrain because it lacked some color. It works, I know, but it's just too depressing colors for me.

Interesting, I've always loved the dark, depressing theme to maps, be it Doom 2, SC, or any other game with outdated graphics.

Right, me too i like the dark theme that space platform gives to starcraft.
But, lets come back to topic, got any suggedtion about the last screenshot? I need to fix that bug, having to go all the way around is another part of the mission and the high vision spoils it all...
