Welcome to the Pokemon Arena! Yea, it's not an original idea, by far. You have a hero, he uses special attacks, you try to win. I'd like to try to push this map type though a little further. Because its pokemon, I had to do pokemon types, and depending on the type of pokemon, some will win out over others ( water beats fire, ground beats electric, ect. )
It's a 2v2 fight, you each have 4 pokemon. Every pokemon has special attacks and most have the ability to evolve into a stronger form. The only new things I think im doing here are that tagging can take place anywhere, and is amongst yourself, not teammates. If one of your pokemon is having a rough time, you can switch him out for one you think will do better. After your new pokemon is chosen, he is sent into 1 of 16 locations randomly around the centre of the map ( to prevent camping ).
Also, because I hate maps that cause you to build units to attack, like rines or firebats at a barracks, I've decided to go with an older attack choice. In old DBZ Budokai maps, you'd move your defiler to a beacon to use the attack. This is all well and good, but the defiler can run over an incorrect beacon at times, and its not the quickest way to do your attack, which is why building came into place. I saw some maps that spawned units under a dark swarm, and I thought, why can't the dark swarm spawn those units, and that unit activate the attack instead? The result is, I hope, the ability to use your defiler to cast a dark swarm to use an attack. As far as I know, this has not yet been done, its always either move defiler here, or build this, never cast to attack.
I also don't generally like how most of these arena maps special attacks do nothing but spawn other units that use their attacks. I wanted to make the attacks seem better than that. Pikachu's attacks, for instance, would take advantage of junkyard dog scarabs to fire random " electric " attacks. And, for a concentrated attack, would be given a corsair, that, when a d-web was cast, would cause the scarabs to explode on that singular location, easy to miss, but mass damage if it hits.
I'm getting ahead of myself with this, but I also wanted a " double-team " type ability, which would use an EUD to detect the current health of the unit, and cause hallucinations of that unit that were at the same HP, that again in turn would die if they took moderate damage.
Now, on to those required screenies.
....huh, well, it said failed to get image size, i think i put them on as attachments, but id like to just get them to where you can see them in the post....i don't know what im doing wrong to do that, but if anyone could let me know, id be glad to edit it ^_^
