Could you make a spell only target buildings without resorting to making the buildings mechanical, organic, etc.?

None.

At least in datedit, it doesn't work...

None.

Make sure the order (in orders.dat) is set to use weapon targeting.

No, there isn't, not without being creative or exploring uncharted territory with Orders.dat and Orders in FireGraft.

There is a Non-building flag (used for things like Psionic Storm), but nothing of the reverse. You'd either need to limit your mod's units to one category (like Organic), while keeping Buildings as something like Mechanical. Then adjusting your spell's target flags where appropriate.

Orders.dat and the Orders tab in Firegraft might hold some promise, but I haven't played much with those. When I do, it usually just breaks things. =o\

Lord Agamemnon's Entropy's Edge made all buildings Air, thereby allowing him to restrict attacks against buildings.

That screws up my spell plan. Whatever, guess I'll have to play with orders.

None.

Well, depending on how important your spell plan was to your gameplay, it is still possible with some sacrifice of other areas.

Otherwise, good luck with Orders. I hope you find something fruitful.

Modding Starcraft can be considered limiting, or depending on your perspective, challenging. It demands a level of creativity to produce new and unique things. When you're in the process of learning the tools and limitations of Starcraft, though, it can be frustrating feeling your way in the dark and finding your cool new idea isn't possible the way you imagined it. Once your eyes adjust, though, you'll begin to see ways to make it happen, or even come up with new ideas altogether from what you've learned. In the end, the experience bears its own rewards. You'll seldom start and end with the same mod.

Killer_Kow, you describe an operation, but not the intended result. It would help clarify your suggestion by doing so.

Lol, I see. Yeah, we can make Psi Storm hurt buildings by unchecking "Non-Building" in its Weapon.dat entry, but no flag exists that allows us to limit a spell to only target buildings.

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value

Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort

Oh_Man -- definitely EUD
