My starcraft doesn't run when I use MPQdraft, My DATedit closes when I enter Weapons
I basically can't run any mod I download.

I apologize for wrong section, Starcraft Itself is not crashing, It doesn't run period. DatEdit Is the latest version possible

Yes it is. I can run StarCraft and all of the editors. Modding applications, I'm not sure of.

Run in compatibility mode for windows xp (properties->compatibility), make sure you are an administrator, disable UAC.

The only reason my MPQDraft doesn't seem to be working is the DEP, or Data Execution Prevention.
Is there any way to take this off the computer?

For one I don't have Vista and frankly I don't understand people that upgrade already, but that's none of my business. However that's why I can't really help you.
But I took the time and clicked Rockz link. After the I've had a good laugh I got redirected to a list of potentially helpful links. I clicked the first read a few lines and it seemed to be what you were looking for. That's why I wonder why you're not satisfied.
I mean sure, Rockz combined his help with a sarcastic joke at your expense, but the did link you to useful information.

I have vista and know many modders that have vista and none have had any problems really. At least I know I haven't.

I've heard that problem with DatEdit crashing before but I can't seem to remember who had it neither how it was fixed.


As to DEP, yes, try rockz link.

EDIT: oh also, if you don't want to disable DEPs just make your mod a Firegraft Self executing file. That's what I do cause I am too lazy to disable them.

The DatEdit in Corbo's pack is outdated. It is 1.5b, which has a bug. You want to grab 1.5d.

Sadly, any new pre-built computer will ship only with Vista. Laptops especially, whose drivers might be Vista-only.

I have now solved my DEP problem, found a working version of DatEdit and can play mods.
