Was it the dogs that set you off? That's another thing that drives me nuts about animal rights activists. They only care about the cute animals getting hurt. The outrage would be much lower if the video showed people killing oysters.

Oh, I definitely disagree with the whole activity. Especially with the whole not killing the animals part and skinning alive. It's horrible.
But this is the internet - where I laugh at misfortune.

Being skinned alive is a horrible way to die, yes, but it's just one aspect of the global suffering that is and has always taken place. Why is being killed quickly with a bullet or euthanasia somehow more "morally correct" than clubbing or bleeding to death? Speed = humane? Might as well drop a nuke on them. They won't even realize what happened before they died.

Couldn't agree anymore with that sentance. Wait, I can!

I wonder if they skin humans in China? Hmmm? :|

I just realized how funny it is for me to say "Being skinned alive is a horrible way to die." As if I actually knew...

Which again begs the question: How do you know what the "best way to die" is? Is a death more horrible because it looks nastier or the creature dying is forced to realize they're about to die? Isn't not knowing at all that it's coming just as horrible? Maybe it's because if the thing cries too much then we start to empathize with it. Best to kill it fast so we don't feel concerned for the projections of our own self interest for too long.

Humans don't know the best way of death. Nothing but something we set up to fix that void. Anything could be considered an inhumane death.

lol just think of the dog as a bunch of atoms and the pain as electrical signals; it doesn't look so bad, does it?

Yes, because dying of old age is so horribly wrong. Seriously, I enjoy watching you pad your posts.

Just a bunch o' atoms and electrical signalz!

Well, it's horrible and probably quite unpleasant, but as said before.. we can't really do a thing. What's this organization going to do with the money? Pay off the Chinese? China doesn't really care about its international human/animal rights status, so raising awareness won't do a thing... Hmm, what else?

EDIT: Oh, and they misspelled civilized.

Well, dogs also fall under the higher thinking animals category. Well maybe not higher... 99th percentile.

I have a theory:
Value of a life = (Cuteness*How-much-PETA-cares)/(How-much-Americans-eat-them)
Please note that the factors mostly appeal to the entire species' qualities, so very ugly dogs and cats are still valuable.

Every year, 2 million dogs and cats are sadisitically skinned alive in China.

Aren't pigs also thinking animals? We eat lots of those too, don't we?

Frankly, we've got higher priority things to worry about than this shit. Let's handle the important stuff first.

I know how to solve this problem: kill every dog and cat before the Chinese do, that we we can ensure a humane way of death for them.

Go, GO NOW!

Well, y'see, there's some problems here.
Personally, I find the prospects to be quite horrible, sure. The idea of implementing what would have been used as torture methods against humans, as a regular thing, on other significantly conscious animals is disturbing, and probably mildly depressing ( or perhaps not 'mildly...' ) , were I not raised into this human society.
However...

That is that country's fault. I don't give a fuck. I'd really like to know how donating ANY amount of money stops this shit. I really hate some donation organizations.

So sure. I'm all for saving creatures from needlessly painful deaths.
Sign me up when you find a verifiable way to do something about it. "It," or any of dozens, hundreds, maybe thousands of other 'atrocities' occuring worldwide, which people are constantly vying to "raise awareness of."

How many poor little Chinese children depend on their fathers' skinning jobs so that they can eat? See the problem with trying to empathize with everyone and everything?

Btw, if you play football or own a leather jacket and love it... guess what...

EDIT: You started the fight by making a personal attack against myself and Moose when we expressed our viewpoints. That post is now deleted, but don't pretend like it didn't happen.
I 100% understand where your coming from. But think of it this way:

It's dogs and cats. They dont need to use dogs and cats, they treat it as a delicacy and have tried to get them globally registered as livestock and are still trying. There are several other animals that they could do this on. Then all these people complain about the animals going extinct. Don't ban cloning if you don't want animals to go extinct.

People don't know what they want, thats the problem in the world. Everyone either has morals, logic, blindness or greed. If you have morals, everything that you think is wrong IS and thats that. If you have logic, you pretty much don't care and laugh at the simple stupidity of all the crap that's flying around. If you have blindness, you do things that you've known and don't really know whats going on. If you have greed, you could care less about the means and its all about the outcome.

But in the end, I could care less and raising awareness doesn't cost crap. Tell a friend and they tell a friend. Eventually, you just might get China to stop because the whole world is looking at them like their weirdos.
