Zunes are $200, Classics are $250 for an extra 50GB. My current library is 4.7GB. I really don't need all that space. And, Zunes have a built in FM radio, which is usually >$20 for an iPod. For me, a Zune would suffice, but I guess I could see how someone with a huge DVD collection would need 160GB.

They aren't iPods buddy, those are Zunes, a whole different company than Apple. theres also other brands such as iRiver, all of which outperform iPods
becuz iPods are overrated.

iPods are severely overrated.

I'm tired of hearing Apple hype. It's just a fucking mp3 player.

When I see five iPod stories on digg front page, I bury them.
Seriously. It's just like any other mp3 player but with an annoying exclusive file type. I might buy my older brother's off him though, since it's better than my Walkman CD player, and he's offering it for $100. I think that's the only good thing coming out of this new iPod, a cheap 4GB iPod Nano for me. :P

I still hate Apple though. :disgust:

Zune? You would buy something from M$ in an area M$ just entered?
Last time I bought something from M$ in an area they just entered (consoles -- xbox), it's dvd-rom only worked for a few months. And then stopped reading discs 99.9% of the time (common problem). And people's houses started on fire (rare?).

iriver all the way. I had this little mp3 player bouncing between the road and my car at 70 mph for 5 minutes, dangling violently on it's cord. It still works. It only lost it's battery casing and gained a few scratches.

It's also the size of my thumb. Yet easy to use and read.

Then the same thing could be said about Zunes, because at 200$, you're only using 1/6th of the space.

If you want a high capacity MP3 player, the Classic has a better Value than the Zune. It costs more, but it offers much more.

You may be interested in listening to the radio, but the radio doesn't really offer much. Top 20 songs.. and talk shows..? (The FM stations suck in Boston anyway ;) ) Suit yourself though, the whole reason I would buy an mp3 player is so I could choose the music I want to listen to. I have an FM radio feature on my MP3 player (iRiver E10) and I don't use it at all.

You'd be surprised how large some people's music library can get, too. I know some people with around 30gb of music.

It's only the best selling MP3 player, though. I mean, if any MP3 player did deserve the hype, it's Apple's.
There are key characteristics that seperate iPods from other MP3 players. Case in point.. the iPod Touch.. Hello?!

The Zune is actually a quality MP3 player.. :\ It's definately got some crap to work out though... like that stupid useless WiFi crap.

What iRiver mp3 player do you have? I <3 my E10.

I just don't see how you could have 160GB of music that you regularly listen to.

My entire collection is maybe 6 GB of stuff I actually listen to at any one point, and 15 GB total of stuff. My music taste cycles over time, so I can just change songs to fit what I'm in the mood for within that time period.

Que Sera, Sera.

Not just music, movies, videos, all that.

Anywhere you could go that you could possibly need to bring 160GB worth of movies is a place you should bring a laptop to.

As stated before, an iPod can hold more than just music. But besides that, not everybody has the same music tendencies and library size as you, if they did, then I guess an 160gb iPod wouldn't sell very well.

Is this a joke..? Seriously, a try looking for a laptop the size of an iPod, kthx. Or price..

Infact, try looking for an external drive the size of an iPod Classic.

Mind telling me what model exactly your Palm is so I can actually make an argument/comparison between the two..? ^^

And also, I really don't get the point of having a music player with more space than the computer it gets its music from... And yes, I know that with the WiFi it's probably possible to take the PC(/Mac) out of the process, so don't bring it up.

LOL? What the hell are you asking for then..Are you complaining that the iPod Classic has too much storage? Would you rather have less? That doesn't make any sense.. what the hell is wrong with that..?

And hey, if you don't like having an MP3 player with more storage than your computer, then upgrade your computer.

The point isn't that a laptop is the same size. It's that the smaller size is no longer a benefit at a certain point.

A 500TB iPod would be useless. I already have a laptop, I'm not paying $350 for 160GB of space I don't need when I can just cram my laptop into my bag and bring it pretty much anywhere I would possibly need that much storage space worth of entertainment.

So Dr.

Your saying that you cary your laptop around with you in a bag with headphones and somehow manage to listen to music and change songs?

No, I'm saying that I don't need over, at most, 15GB, of stuff on ready. I'm saying, if I'm on a long trip or at an airport, where I would need more stuff to keep me entertained, I'd bring a laptop.

Then don't buy an iPod Classic 160gb if you don't need/want that much space. However, I like the fact that I can store about 50gb+ of the media files I have now, store them on an iPod, and never have to worry about them. The fact is, some people like to have all their music, media, etc with them at all time.

Doktor Shotgun, find me a laptop with 160gb storage space, and then find me a ~15gb mp3 player, add up the cost, and we can compare with an iPod Classic. Obviously the laptop will have more capabilities, but for somebody who just wants a very high amount of portable storage for media, I don't see what's the problem.
