Processor - Intel Pentium Dual-Core @ 1.8Ghz
Are you sure it is a "Pentium" dual core at 1.8 gHz? Intel has dropped the Pentium name for all of its newer model cpus, so if it is a newer model cpu then it isn't called Pentium. Also, I may be wrong, but I don't think there was ever any dual core cpu as low as 1.8 gHz that had "Pentium" in the name, as the latest Pentium processors had artificially high clock speeds (and high power consumption) at the cost of performance.

Mar 25 2008, 6:28 pm dumbducky Post #6

To be more precise, a Pentium E2160. Financially, it's placed above Celeron and below Core 2 series.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116036
It's the same as an E2140 at a higher clock speed, but E2140's were sold out. I've already overclocked it to 2.5Ghz without having to increase voltage. I probably could go higher, but I don't feel like it right now.

Hmm, that's odd that they'd be going back to the Pentium name; I hadn't even heard of that at all. The cpu core itself that is named is one they've used for certain lower end Core 2 Duo processors. I think they are just going to cause some confusion using the Pentium name for those, particularly since that was last used for the Pentium 4 type processors, which were a whole lot slower for a given clock speed.

I think I've got the worst specs posted yet:

CPU AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (which is really 2GHz
RAM 2GB - 64 MB for video (max I could put in BIOS) + 2GB pagefile
Video Card VIA S3G KM400 (sucky integrated video card which uses RAM as memory,)
Hard Drive 250GB Western Digital (no SATA unfortunately)
Monitor 19'' CRT 1024x768 NEC AccuSync 95F
Mouse Logitech USB optical mouse, 2 buttons, wheel, with cord (cordless is pretty useless in my opinion)
Keyboard Some old pre-usb keyboard
OS Microsoft Windows XP Professionel Version 2002 Service Pack 2 (in french)

And Syphon, 46''? What's the point? Unless that's your TV.

(xfire)

Manufacturer: HP Pavilion 061
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 1024MB RAM
Hard Drive: 154 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT
Monitor: hp mx703 Color Monitor
Sound Card: Realtek AC97 Audio
Speakers/Headphones:
Keyboard: USB Root Hub
Mouse: USB Root Hub
Mouse Surface:
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254)

The only upgrades I've done to this computer is spending 70$ going to a Nvidia 6600 from a Nvidia 550 and spending $32 on 512MB more of RAM.

I'm going to buy out a rigged out laptop for college, though.

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-M61SME-S2L (the name is just a tad long...)
CPU: Athlon 64 X2 4000+ at 2.4 GHz each
RAM: 2 x 1GB Apacer DDR2-800... can't be bothered checking the page file
HDD: '160'GB Maxtor at 7200RPM
VC: Asus 8600GT
PSU: Thermaltake 430W
Optical Drive: Some 52x DVD-RAM drive...

It's not a massive beast, but it will at least run pretty much any game you care to name.
