Hey guys, just wondering if there's anyone else on SEN who shares interest with one of the most extreme genres of music, satanic Norwegian black metal. I don't know if anyone has even heard about this genre before since it is very underground. Basically, if you know anything about heavy metal, its pretty much death metal but more atmospheric and with satanic imagery. It can have a wide variety of sounds from brutal machine gun guitar to songs that don't even use guitar. The genre started up in the early eighties by a British band called Venom but the Norwegian bands shorty claimed the genre as their own.

It is a very hard genre to listen to. Its kinda like opera in the sense that your ear has to be trained to know what to listen for, otherwise yeah I guess it is mostly noise. And about the poor production quality, thats pretty much a part of the genre.

What the hell is the difference between any of them? When I hear them they are all like blah blah blah *really odd demonic-voice* blah lame abuse of distortion *killing of guitar scales starts here (yes, I mean solos)* blah blah blah done.

Of course, I have never tried to listen in too deep into them. I, however, do like some metal music don't take me wrong.

Well I cant defend certain sub genres of metal (Swedish viking themed death metal) Death metal and black metal are 2 very different genres. death metal is all about machine gun guitars, blast beats, guttural vocals and lyrics about rape, murder, violence, war, decapitation, ect... Black metal is more atmospheric. It creates more of an image. When I listen to black metal I picture things like forest and caves, usually things involving nature. The lyrics usually go with Norwegian culture. They often talk about nature, pagan rituals, satanic rituals and other things. Also black metal tends to not have very good recording quality, it started off just because they were dirt poor but now it has become associated with the genre. I could go on but I need to get to bed.

Well not to start a fuss but,corbo just because you find certain music not good for you does not mean it isnt great for others.

Every Death Metal Band(just death metal even though I like heavy and hard rock)I have listened to and Like has not included rape in there music.I have heard people talk about this before(my friend jeff mainly).I have only heard about violence, war, and decapitation.They also talk about it because of how it came to them.Kataklysm for intense is a great one to point out on that.
Anyways yeah I like bands such as,Kataklysm,behomut,and slayer.Then I also like slipknot,korn,rob zombie,static x,system of the down and many others .

Well uh there are death metal bands that sing about rape. Try oh I don't know, Cannibal Corpse, the biggest death metal band ever.
