I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

differences I can spot/are announced:
- Zerg contruction placement models are now orange.
- ice tileset available
- Overlay for main buildings and Geysirs to show the mining worker count
- Zerg queens lost their long thingys on the back which were used to attack
- Creep tumor construction has an animation through the creep from the old one towards the new one.

other things:
- Mothership Core is a unique unit like the Mothership was. So only 1 at a time.
- Viper Consume ability: targets friendly structure and consumes 200 health over 10 seconds to regain 50 energy
- Hydra Upgrade: Same speed on and offcreep

Awesome, but I'm not sure if I will spend $50 for the new game. Custom map on SC2 is dead.

Protoss OP!

That oracle entomb ability looks pretty dumb :( all mineral patches down for that long, I can see zerg having to keep corruptors around just for those. Day9 really doesn't like the range of the tempest, if you listen to the adjectives he uses when he talks about it. Why is there still a hero unit in the game? This isn't WCIII, Dustin Browder.

Red classic.

Such as? Piqued my curiosity. Any video links? Bjuejeuler?

The second video in the OP is Day9 and some noobie blizzard guy casting a match from HotS. One adjective was disgusting, another was crazy, and there was another negative one which I forgot.

Good Stuff:
- Most of the new units bring new mechanics to the table.

Bad Stuff:
- the warhound looks silly.
- Most of these will be nerfed before HotS. Showing them now is a nice but don't have your hopes up, guys.

"Absurd" and "sickening" were two.

They weren't necessary negative, more like, "Wow that guy can eat an absurd number of hamburgers."

The main thing I don't like about the tempest is how it looks. Does Protoss = Egyptian now? I'd expect it to look like a giant cannon.

The Protoss always had a very heavy Egyptian theme, note all of the gold/yellow and the dreadlocks/braids.

Anyways, since Roy went all Nazi on my last post, I believe the Zerg have been given a major update. A lot of these new units seem to be intended to add a lot more clutch into the game and spice up the mid-game.

The Protoss had an Egyptian inspired theme. They were never meant to look like they were Egyptians.

I'm sorry to say, but the graphic design has taken an extreme turn for the worse with this latest batch. We have terrans that look like (and are) transformers from cybertron, a bipedal anti-armor unit my pokedex tells me is an evolved SCV, and a protoss hula-hoop flying contraption that would be better suited as an extravagant earring.

But let's start with the protoss, because boy am I mad about the protoss. But it's only because the protoss appeal to my love for sci-fi and cool looking tech shit that I take so much offense. And it's not like I think Blizzard does terrible terrible damage with every new unit design, so I'm going to start with a few things they got right.

1) Whoever drew this deserves a massive pat on the back. It was, in my opinion everything the protoss embody; it's elegant, striking, and has the exact right amount of Egyptian inspiration. There's a point where inspiration becomes just derivative work, and this is not one of those cases. Excellent job on this creation. (Selendis is damn sexy too, yeah that's right, I chose Selendis over Dr. Zergface.)

2) The protoss colussus. Because, let's face it, Koreans are imba, so merging the reaver and the shuttle so us mortals could have a protoss artillery unit makes sense (yes, I said it: ARTILLERY UNIT). But beyond really effing cool lasers and the satisfying burning death animation it causes and its obvious integral function of turning a protoss death ball into a protoss death ball that shoots motherfucking lasers, I feel that this unit has a wonderful and refreshing design. Notice how its Egyptian inspired designs are so minimalist that they're hardly noticeable. It's really only the gold plating and a few miniscule aesthetic features that make it resemble anything Egyptian.

But really it shouldn't, it should remind of you of these badass motherfuckers. Seem familiar? HG Wells would probably agree. It was a great design choice.

But alright, I could go on, but you may see that it's obviously within Blizzard's ability not to design what is essentially a giant protoss siege cannon that looks like this. It's a giant cannon, so the first thing that comes to mind is functionality. Let's make it look like it does what it is supposed to do. Siege tanks are a great example of this. They're heavily armored tanks. But I guess you get it easy working on a tank since we have real life examples to use. But no problem, let's do what we did for the colossus and dig into our sci-fi library via google search and see if we can't figure out something that may inspire a design.

UNSC In Amber Clad reporting for service. Hey it's a giant cannon! Fancy that.

But anyway, people are going to expect it to have cannon-like qualities. But it doesn't. It's attack is just some wimpy orb that isn't nearly as cool as a siege tank blast, maybe feeling beam weapons are a bit much after void rays? Alright that's cool, but it doesn't change the fact artillery is designed to be accurate and powerful. There should be a pretty hefty and satisfying collision as Newton's laws play out happily. Which may be part of why the attack looks so fake, it has no pzazz.

There is the matter of the actual design, as well. I think some concern went into not want it to be a very long unit, and keeping proportions adequate. Nothing wrong with that. Add some fin "stabilizers" or something, but just have something that could resemble a barrel or a conduit or something to channel the energy. Energy flying in a specific direction after just floating in air with no obvious means of propulsion looks fake (and don't give me that super advanced technology cop-out).

At some point in the saga, something really should have happened to stop this. But no, that dumbass "Laser Hoop" actually made its way into reality.
NOT AS LARGE AS MOFO SHIP, BIG LIKE CARRIER

I'd like to make a case for the super-advanced-technology cop out. Clearly the circular nature of the vehicle is necessary to create the flux vortex in the middle and sustain the nuclear energy in an acceptable time frame for stabilization of the blast shape to occur. The part in the front is left open for the blast to pass through, the part in the back contains the technology for pushing out the blast, as well as locomotive machinery, and the circular part of the ship contains the magnetic hardware to sustain the weaponry. Duh :D

Wow. I can't believe they kept the Tempest, Warhound, Battle Hellion, Viper, or Oracle. I thought they were some kind of practical joke. Joke's on me, I guess.

Doesn't really matter, I'd only consider buying it if the made they editor bearable and don't screw up the art tools. 1.5 will tell me the extent of that.

Show them your butt, and when you do, slap it so it creates a sound akin to a chorus of screaming spider monkeys flogging a chime with cacti. Only then can you find your destiny at the tip of the shaft.

Viper doesn't seem too bad to me, I'd like for it to have detection though, as now we still have the mothership AND we have the Oracle cloaking field. The rest I dislike. Swarm Host should be lurker, I wouldn't be surprised if Swarm Host ends up being pretty useless in proper games. If they just made it a lurker it would be an excellent unit.

I'm also disappointed that the mothership is still in. If it was no longer 1 only then it'd be fine, but I really hate the idea of hero units in 1v1 StarCraft. Silly Dustin Browder and his WCIII and terrible terrible damage and too many mineral patches and gas and popularity system raaaaaaa!

I see nothing wrong with the designs. The Tempest looks sleek and powerful. Kinda wish the Carrier wasn't gone though. :(

Also WOW big comeback by toss. Zerg really should have sent like ONE corruptor to deal with that oracle in top mid that was constantly entombing him the entire game!!

Updated first post with MLG stream link. Go to 2 hours 9 minutes for a TvZ battle report showing of the changes in the Terran weaponry.

A thought:

Perhaps a zerg player could, when going for an offensive attack with vipers, take a few drones and build a few extractors out by one of the opponent's untaken expansions to allow for quick energy. It seemed like the zerg player could have used a lot of energy in that battle report.

But obviously they have to account for the multispectral temporal anomalies. If you work out the calculations, you should find that the hoop needs to create an elliptical radiant frequency -- this can only be done with quantum inversion fractals.

And since advantium is the only material that can keep the energy regression beam stable and, if you have kept up to date on your scientific literature, you would know that artificial singularity generation means that we can store an amount of energy inversely proportional to the size of the spatial flexure.

It's like the protoss didn't think about this at all.
