For all of you who thought that StarCraft 2 would be coming out on the anniversary of the first StarCraft... well, from what I was being told, that isn't the case right now. When I pre-ordered StarCraft 2 in September of this year, I asked for a release date and they couldn't tell me. I walked in today and I finally got something from them that supposedly Blizzard has posted about the release for StarCraft 2. They said to me that the release date would be on October 7, 2008... I almost crapped myself when I herd this. Weather this is right or not is still up for debate, but that is what GameStop told me and I don't think that someone like them would get inaccuarate information on a game like this. Well, lets have fun waiting almost another year for this baby to come out...

Because Blizzard release dates are always right the first time.

Naw it can't be 2008. There's going to be a hell alot of testing to do. To make sure everything is perfect in every way or blizzard shall get the fire.

Its like Super Smash Brothers Brawl. It was first scheduled for Dec.3rd but then they move the release date to Feb.10th so they can tweak the characters and expand the online function.

I know. And once they report alot of bugs in the first release we will have an hour or more download patch each day when that all could of been done during development. :-_-:

lawlz Yea, Blizzard has alot of testing on Starcraft 2 before they release it.

Their campaign is expected to be amazing, and if they were to ship an editor that powerful... I dont know... The ability to implement RPG aspects into an RTS-preview briefing? OMG that will be awesome.

Then again, SC2 is for Multiplayer. Expect shitloads of patches like Warcraft3

Blizzard gives you an easy option of downloading patches in-game while some games don't. They are pretty generous with features. Besides, I've never spent more than a hour on any game patches.

I'm not saying that this is all wrong but I'm only saying what they told me. If anyone also has a subscription to PCGamer magazine you will also find that StarCraft 2 will be one of the best games of 2008 as they have listed... Maybe if really will come out in 2008, no one really knows.

I don't think that any of us had... But Blizzard is already having StarCraft 2 nominated for so many awards for '08... I don't think that they would mess this one up with they have that on the line...

Blizzard knows how they shook up the world with the announcement that SCII will be coming out. If they screw this one up, they lose respectability as a company.

I think that it's not a totally un-reasonable date, seeing as this is going to be a team bigger then ones you and I know and probably better programmers then you or I know, and so with the amount of time they have to work on this, 2008 isn't inevitable though I do think, until Blizzard OFFICIALLY releases a date, this information should be discarded.

Both EBGames and GameStop have the most lousiest predicted release date. They will never put it "To Be Announced". I remember StarCraft: Ghost, people were very patient and turned annoyed from constantly changed release date and call it 'delayed'. I tried to comment it about EBGames/GameStop and their predictions but they canceled my comment. Hell, I remember somebody found a release date for a newly announced game and it really waiting it out patiently when it would never come out in that date.
