He never specifically asked the GM to reveal himself. You could in theory be fooled by a rogue moderator pretending to be a global moderator, although it is unlikely that of all people that one could deceive that said person would try to deceive you.

Doesn't have to be the GM, just anyone in your alliance who will say they trust az. If az turns out to be mafia after a lynch then we then have another suspect; if he's town we have another ally; if no one supports him then he's probably lying.

If the last two are correct there is no way you'd be saying anything at all to avoid suspicion. In fact, if the first two are true you wouldn't say anything either. It's just a nonsensical move that makes it seem like you're trying to throw the town off track. In fact, the most likely scenario now that I think about it is that you're the devilisk. If you were town OR mafia you wouldn't say something like "now devilisk's dead"; but if you ARE devilisk then you'd want as much as possible to say devilisk is dead.
