I heard a lot about this music that gets you "high" a while back and started researching it, a little afraid to try it though. Anyone have any opinions on it?
What you are talking about is called I-Dose which plays a music track through headphones to create responses to the brain.
Most I-doses that are sold commercially are fairly safe however if you do plan buying Idoses make sure its from a reputable seller.... oh and if the Idose states something like "Strong" or "Long term" than its equates to smoking weed and drinking so avoid driving/operating heavy machinery.
I really don't know how to answer you but Idoses work but may not give you the high your looking for. Oh and i recommend you start with the weak songs and never try hardcore unless you think your ready; idoses such as gates of hades and hand of god are pretty powerful.

Scientifically: Music stimulates the activity in the brain, and that's the reason why some people listen to it while walking, reading, or studying. In my opinion: I think the brain reacts differently to different types of music, so if you like classic and play classic, you will get a more enjoyable feeling then, say, play pop, rock, metal, etc. In my opinion #2: It can also be a high to make music, I don't know how, but I get a "high" when I start using memory to create music I heard. (btw, I'm a Jazz/Classic person all the way)
Not all idoses work... in fact it may takes several loops of the song to get an effect; most idoses that are sold require their to be percentage of the people to get an effect... if its not working the best advice would be to get high quality headphones (preferably noise canceling although not requires) be in an environment free of sound while lying down and closing your eyes. Everyone brain is different so try to find the right sound for you.
And no i don't think its going to become illegal becuase the effect borders on what drugs are commonly used today to fix assortment of alignments; It will only become illegal if it gets enough negative attention like if someone dies from it or gets really sick. Lots of people have iDosed and no body piles yet. Even the incredibly strong ones don't have the strength to put you in the hospital.
Still downloading, looks about 60% done. Stupid slow ass 4shared ;_; Though I'm heading out to my car now to grab my iPod so I can listen to it with the nice ass headphones I've got and lay down. I'll listen sometime tonight, and it'll likely just put me to sleep and give me weird dreams. The headphones aren't noise cancelling, but they stick in your ear with a comfortable foam, so they pretty much cancel out sound just by being in. For example, someone had to shout at me when they were in because it works so well. Plus, it gives a shitton more range and volume because it takes up the entire earspace, effectively making it a closed system between the speaker and your eardrum. Best $15 headphones I've ever had.
I need to find some headphones. I wanna try this. I'm gonna go for the worst one first, whatever that is.
Edit: actually I remember my friend doing something like this, he said he felt horrible afterwards, like with the worst headache, but that could have just been because of too high of volume or poor sound quality..

"If a topic that clearly interest noone needs to be closed to underline the "we don't want this here" message, is up to debate."
@Devlin It only works for some people and statistically speaking 1/3rd of people have no effects, 1/3rd say some songs works, and 1/3rd of people say all or almost all of them work.
They are suppose to a series of beeps and bops; it works by playing 2 signals of differentiating hertz E.g. left ear = 150 right ear = 160 which causes a chemical reaction in the brain... Oh and the song name usually tells the effect. Songs such as the "Gates of Hades" and the "Gates of Hell* give a feeling of fear, alcohol gives you a tingling sensation of laughter, orgasm is exactly as it sounds. If your wanting to find these songs good luck as they can be fairly expensive although its cheaper than recreational drugs.

I got just the right volume then. It was just barely audible as I started, but it actually produced some results for me.
DO NOT LISTEN TO THE GATES OF HADES. At least not as your first choice, or alone, or whatever.
I only made it halfway through but it felt like I listened to it for 15 hours, not 14 minutes, 58 seconds. At some point in the first couple minutes I realized I completely lost control of my facial muscles. I was locked in a frown, almost like I was pissed at something. I could force my face straight, but it took a lot of effort and as soon as I stopped trying it went instantly even more "frowny" than before. After that, I had to keep my eyes open, which only made it worse. My laptop was in Hibernate mode, which makes a dim blue light pulse on/off every second, which just so happened to be the same exact rhythm as the I-Dose. I imagine that made it worse than what it would've been if I could've kept my eyes shut. Some time later, I realized there were tears rolling down my face. I haven't cried in so long that I actually forgot how cool they feel on your face.
Then, when the hum (relatively) rapidly changes to a higher, faster pace, I noticed my left thigh wouldn't stop twitching. It then locked up, not in a charlie horse, but rather flexed and stayed flexed. It took a large amount of effort to relax it, but once again as soon as I stopped trying, it went immediately past the previous state. By this time, I had noticed my face was no longer stuck in a mask of rage, and my eyes were wide, almost as if I was shocked or something.
Sorry, but that's about when I quit. Tomorrow, if she's not doing anything for half an hour, I'm going to see if a friend can come and just chill in my room, more or less, so I can feel at least a little safe. Placebo or not, this shit's real to me. Gonna give it one more go, and try to keep my eyes closed. If I can get the balls to go further than 15 minutes, or if I get a different reaction, I'll post it.

I'd like to see your source for that.

I'm really tempted to try this out, but I wanna find something that's easy going and not to harsh. Any way I can get these for free? I heard there was a mental alertness one, I'm interested in that one (can help me on my stacraft 2 skilzzzzzzzz, jk). Maybe it can help on a test or something?
