3x monitors with $60 5770
Now I'm pretty certain these monitors are good: LED backlit, 20" 1600x900. That's the whole reason to buy them. My dad needs a new one, and my brother and wife could both use a new monitor as well (all 3 are over 6 years old now).
My current specs are:
AMD Athlon x2 4200+
Radeon x1950 Pro
AM2 motherboard (not AM2+)
I'm fairly certain that as of right now, my processor is limiting my graphics card, as when I overclock the processor, I get a whole lot more out of 3dmark05 than when I overclock the GPU or VRAM. I don't really have money to burn, so $60 is still a lot. If I get the 5770, it's obviously going to be extremely cheap for the price. However, I'm afraid that my processor will seriously limit it. I will eventually replace most of my computer, but that's not in the forseeable future. By the time I do get around to upgrading, I will assume that the geforce 500 series will be out, if not the radeon 7000 series. There's no question that the 5670 is more powerful than my current card, however the 5770 is already showing its limits in more modern games, and the 5670 would probably make a much better HTPC card due to the number of transistors.
Do you think that the 5670 will perform much worse than the 5770 with my processor, in say Oblivion?
Also, any ideas for my Mom, Aunt, Uncle, 13 y/o Cousin, Aunt, and Uncle for christmas presents?
