What follows is my poem, called "Blue Star."

Blue Star

Besides criticism for the poem style and structure, etc., I would also like to discuss the poem meaning, theme, message, etc. In other words, "solve" the poem.

It's totally not about anyone we know. Definitely not. :rolleyes:

By the end of whatever time frame I arbitrarily decide, I WILL REVEAL MY OWN ANALYSIS OF THE POEM. HURRDURR

Quote
The star above, high in the sky,
Radiant blue, sparkling and shining,
How didst thou, elegant delinquent,
Reach that height, I wonder and ponder.

Quick Analysis: I would say the "Star" represents the goals that we all wish to achieve. The radiance and elegance represents its beauty and its temptation of making us want it more. The distance apart from us is the long path we must use to reach our goals. Couldn't find anything deep about this though. :bye1:

The star above, high in the sky,
Radiant blue, sparkling and shining,
How didst thou, elegant delinquent,
Reach that height, I wonder and ponder.

The star is a metaphor for a (recently?) deceased person whom the speaker loves. The sky is commonly associated with the afterlife, particularly in Abrahamic religions; the star -- the loved one -- is in the sky. Furthermore, they cast a blue light, and blue is a color commonly associated with sadness. Light is commonly indicative of purity, of something sacred, treasured, deified -- such as a loved one. The star is referred to as an elegant delinquent, implying that she failed some obligation or committed some misdeed, and the speaker states that he does not know how the star came to occupy its present space in the sky -- he doesn't know what events led to the death of the one he loves.

I think that the misdeed -- the delinquency -- could be a reference to suicide; in such an instance, the speaker could know the technical cause of death (the method used by his loved one to kill herself) without necessarily knowing the motivation. So he wonders how she really came to reside in the sky -- what drove her to remove herself from this world. He walks through the darkness of the night, alone and empty, with his mental void lit only by his sadness.

EDIT: Either all that or...

...if this quote is actually significant, then you admire and/or love StarBlue and are wondering how she became so awesome.

So either it's a poem about the suicide of a loved one, or you like StarBlue. A lot. WE SHALL SEE.

lol u r all right. A++ to everyone-
except for David who gets an F
your second interpretation is wrong to the point of inundating how wrong it has a capacity for and overfilling your first interpretation, which was actually an A++ before being flooded by the wrongness of the second

lul /jk u rite too

Next time I visit this thread, I think I will post the original meaning that I intended to convey through my poem.

I think you forgot to share your interpretation or "solution" to my poem. There is still time before I reveal the teacher's solution.
So, hurry up, and make sure you complete your assignment before the arbitrary deadline!

Quote from Sand Wraith
OH, I WONDER WHAT TO DO;
I HAVE A CRUSH ON STARBLUE.
TO THE WORLD, I WANT TO SHOUT BUT
IF SHE KNEW, SHE'D BE CREEPED OUT;
OH, I WONDER WHAT TO DO;
I HAVE A CRUSH ON STARBLUE.

Oh, I know! I'll create a topic about a poem, heavily imply that it is about what it seems, yet challenge people to come up with alternate interpretations which ideally will have no relevance to StarBlue! I can spill my guts and yet people will distract each other from the truth!

IS MAI INTURPURTAESHUN CORREKT? :P

Okay, so I was thinking about 9PM or so (here), and it's some 6 minutes from that, but I think I might wait just a bit longer. A little bit longer, you know? Ya.

Remember, kids, there is no wrong answer.

Just here for the activity... well not really

Hydro is obviously the short kid at school. He looks up to his class basketball team, specifically the star players, whose team color is blue.

I don't get it. What have you observed to put forward such a claim?

I am now tired and bored and hungry, so I shall proceed to dick off in my epic thread.

Quote

line # // meaning
-
1 // Introducing a relatively new member of SEN, StarBlue, through the usage of "star" to refer to "Star." "High in the sky" refers to how the new member is surfing the Internet, which is sometimes depicted as lines in the sky, and is ultimately a series of interconnected networks.
2 // Finishing with the introduction of StarBlue, "radiant blue" referring to "Blue" and how the member has made quite a commotion. "Sparkling and shining" is a cynical comment about her activity and posts:day.
3 // "How didst thou," I'm asking myself, "elegant delinquent," how naturally and apparently effortlessly she has managed to troll SEN. I'm asking myself how she managed to run amok in SEN. "Elegant delinquet" is also used to describe the amusement I receive occasionally upon reading whatever she has posted or similar.
4 // Entire line is a written expression equivalent to the "facepalm," in regard to how StarBlue managed to register at SEN and proceed to commit a slew of acts exemplary of Internet newbiness and inexperience.

tl;dr

Cynical social commentary on the Internet about the Internet.

:awesome:
