unknown error

After playing for more than 1 hour, the game crashed. I made the made the map, it has 2 AI players (custom and insane).

I checked the crashlist, but I couldn't find anything that could cause this. I know for sure that the crash is not caused by clicking/ viewing any unit. All of the map is visible.
I tested a lot and found that when both AI players are not defeated, so they keep attacking, and then suddenly there is a crash (without the human player interfering). When either AI (or both) is defeated, there is no crash. I don't know what this means.

So what should I look for? Also there is an error file, is it of any use?

Would you mind posting a link? I may not know the most on this site, but I believe it may have something to do with the AI triggers.

Heinermann checked it, but he's not sure what exactly is the cause. he said:
Quote from Heinermann
Retrieving visibility flags from a bad Sprite pointer. (Unit is probably dead)
and:
Quote
Retrieving a unit pointer from an unknown structure
what does it mean?

Sounds like an unknown error. If it's very repeatable, and consistent at the time (sorry it's 1 hour into the game, though, you have a lot a waiting to do) then you might try to debug it yourself. Posting the map is the best way to get help on this, but if Heinermann can't figure it out, I doubt most of us will do much good.

unfortunately I can't post the map (and there are too many triggers too check), but maybe any ideas what to look for? The error is consistant.
I noticed:
- human player actions do not cause the error.
- 2 AI computer players (custom/insane AI). NO error if either, or both are defeated.

The members on this site have seen maps that have thousands (hell, even tens of thousands) of triggers. I doubt you have too many. ;o

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

speaking of me? ;D

okeee,
I would check for any overflows in the triggers or with the unit placement that may cause problems.
(extended units/sprites placed on map, memory condition/EUDs).

Or maybe it's an problem with the OS. SCBW has (or had in my case) random freezes on Win7.

Anyway, showing the map to Heinermann would be your best chance to find the source of that odd behavior.

Oh, are you using a mod or some external program (hack/launcher)? Maybe they could cause that, too.

At least I would like to know which scripts you are running?

The only reason I can see that you can't post the map is because you do not have permission. Please tell the author that we won't steal the map, and the best way to prevent it from being stolen is by posting it here.

What is "an overflow in triggers", "extended units"?
How do I find the "scripts" that are used?
About unit placement, the computer players start with 4 scv/drone and 1 overlord. I'm not sure what else you could mean.

I use win xp, no mod/hack.
I made the map together with someone, he doesn't want the map to be posted. so I'd rather have some indications on what to search for, how difficult it may be.

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

extended units are units with anything higher than a unit ID of 228 (stuff you can't place in staredit/sometimes scmdraft, only starforge) or a player number higher than 12.

The scripts will be in an action that says "run ai script" so search for that in notepad or something (text triggers in scmdraft and copy paste)

You can brute force test by deleting triggers/other things, but that's going to take an AWFULLY long time due to the 2 hour mark. The only way to speed that up is to have a lot of computers testing it.

This is a pretty unique situation, and nobody here knows what's going on, or specifically how to help you. You just have to look and find something that doesn't look right. Good luck.

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value

Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort

Oh_Man -- definitely EUD
