BWAI Melee Challenge II

Hello SEN Melee players! I want to resurrect a little challenge that actually started here at SEN's Melee forum maybe 4 years ago. I'd link you to the original, but alas SEN's archives are gone forever.

The challenge is simple and something that you can do whenever you're bored stiff or just wanna warm up your fingers before bashing your friends. Basically, you play single player melee against a modded computer and then let our BWAI Replay Calculator judge how well you did. A mod? computer? WTF? Why isn't this in modding? I've brought this here because this is specifically designed to challenge the seasoned melee player. We all know modders pretty much suck at melee anyways! :P

Quote from bajadulce
NEW!!! I have updated the Replay Calculator today to score more points for those attempting to challenge more computers. The calculator still averages the computers scores, but you are now awarded 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x!! ... How high can you go? :)

I'm not going to bore you with the details of the mod. It's really nothing mind boggling nor new for that matter. It's been around for half a decade now and without an update for equally as long. This final version was mainly created to include members that were absent from previous versions. The Challenge was created to help preserve the mod for the next generation of SC players and just a fun way to allow users to be involved in a tournament like setting or just show off their skills.

Here is the direct download to the mod:
BWAI Gold Final
And here is the original thread:
source @ BWAI.com

Here are details about the Challenge as well as the Leader Board.

Condensed version:
Quote
Instructions:
* Download and run BWAI Gold's insane AI. (Racine's Rebels.exe)
* Play any pro-like map vs. the computer. (Show off your own map!)
* Enter your data from the victory screen using the BWAI Replay Calculator.

Scoring:
* The formula rewards more points for a non-rush match but long matches are penalized.
* Optimal time should be less than 30 minutes.
* Time penalty is around 10% of total score for a 30 minutes game and around 80% for 50 minutes.

There's no downgrading or any files to install. You can play this anytime with any Starcraft version even without an internet connection. Any map INCLUDING YOUR OWN PRIZED MELEE MAP can be used. You can post here or there or send replay via pm or even email. I’ll find it somehow wherever it is. There’s also an affiliate tag that can represent your clan or even your home site such as SEN.

~thnx for the support.

I tested the AI. Heres the two replays of the games I played.
BWAITESTTVT1.rep Score: 2418
... It was on blustorm. And PCs messed up on the pathing choke. Lol.
BWAITESTTVZ1.rep Score: 1507
... Zerg AI just sucked =( Doesn't it atleast need to have the right unit counters?

Wait. Do you need to be on the mod to view the replays? Because it keeps messing up.

This ones PVT. And I just had fun :/ By far Toss was the hardest race to play against with the AI, I guess because of the simple brute force of the Protoss...
BWAITESTPVP1.rep - 2425

I'm pretty sure you're putting your scores in wrong, I don't think they should be that high.

thnx for replays BeDazed. Nice playing too! :)

I added your 2 replays to the Ladder.
I also updated the replay calculator page with an example pic demonstrating what values are to be entered into the calculator as the directions weren't very clear.

The Protoss replay was a good one. Even tho the Ai is usually dead when they've been contained, they still managed to put up a pretty good fight. gg.

Ya.. the Terran don't like the pathfinding on that map. (I think it might even be included in our suggested map pack? .. if so I gotta axe that.) They were looking pretty tuff there tho and would have been a good challenge for you.

@ vs. Z: There are 3 built in difficulty levels for the mod and you happen to draw the easier of the 3 which is just random. Scoring in general will be higher with the higher difficulty level Ai's. Or you can 1v2 and hope to get the easier one.

Difficulty Breakdown:
Ahzz Ai = medium
Racine Ai = hard
Adun Fury = difficult

.. alright thnx for the support. I know computers are pretty lame, but the ppl that made these scripts really thnkyou for trying out their creation.

ORLY?

EDIT::
Ahem Ahem. I tried out Protoss. And due to the race specialty of easy macro and how the game turned out... an incredible score of
BWAITESTPVT.rep - 3683

Iam only playing Racine, since the other two is way too easy. :O Also on a side note P is my worst race <_< >_>

ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO

This is my best one so far. I could actually beat them.

I couldn't save a replay... Is there a reason why the replay button is grayed out?

LOL replay score 304? :C
I see.. it was the time. Well It might have helped if I knew that you had to kill all protoss buildings even if they're unpowered instead of trying to find expos with wraiths :P

fuck you all

Can't replay a game where you reloaded from a saved game.

No, Adun Ai is more difficult than Racine Ai.. especially Zerg and Toss.

It seemed to me their play was a bit obvious. Terran, Toss, and Zerg usually always goes for an 'all in' rush, in which you can easily block if you go a bit defensive. And after that, they just dont seem to have enough mass to counter the player's, ending fairly awkwardly.

This is what I mean by that.
BWAITESTZVT1.rep - 1721

Update + Ladder Reset:
BWAI Gold Final

Details:
Ahzz Zerg glitch fixed.
All AI announcements for standard play removed. You now no longer have no clue as to who is coming. WORSHIP THE FOG!
Death Match Mode Kills2Gas trigger reduced slightly.

I updated first post as well. With a new aiscript.bin, some of the old vs. Zerg replays become unusable so those had to be removed. This final .exe tho should offer an overall better experience in the long run than leaving it broken. Sorry for the inconvenience. If you have some spare time and would like to record some more vs. Zerg replays we will gladly re add them! Thnx again for your support.

@ last replay and Adun Ai.
Ya.. you played great. Racine Ai would have been just as easy for you. You may need to play 1v2. :P Ya, Adun Ai is more "all-in" and In general, will give most defensive type players a harder time. Also, the internal Ai engine is pretty bad at dealing with lurkers.. Same goes for cliff drops.. :(
BWAIWar III Ai vs. Ai replay pack Here is a replay pack featuring about 42 pre-recorded Ai vs. Ai replays. The computer runs the same Ai each time, but there are all sorts of matchups between the different Ai's. Many happen to be Adun vs. Racine. MOST are a washout for Adun as you will see. However, with BWAI Gold Final there are no longer announcements so you would have to run them in 1.2. However, whenever you see a constant stream of 900 min and 900 gas as opposed to the 2k, 2k, that is Adun Ai. Both Racine and Ahzz use 2k.

Or whenever you see many many buildings going up with only 5 to 6 workers.

less workers = more supply for fighting units. :) What's the point of workers if you get free money anyways? :D

Also.. I want to remind anyone interested in trying this out that you can use "ANY" map for this. I.E. SUPPORT YOUR FELLOW SEN MAPPERS and help showcase their maps if you decide to try this. I remember the last time we did this, we had ppl playing SEN maps made by Yenku, Psycho_Templar, Ihateit, and damn I can't remember the other guy who was the best SEN map maker at that time's name. oh well.

It's all just for lolz. Nothing serious. This challenge is meant to be a permanent document and a historical reference to the mod and a tribute to all those that helped create it. Your replay will be preserved for years to come. Thnx for playing.

I started playing each matchup and posting the replays, but got sidetracked this last week. Actually, I finished all the Protoss vs. matchups and almost scored 5k points in one! Unfortunately, my last 5 Terran v Protoss CPU games have been disasters. Eventually I'll finish all the matchups... maybe.

I was expecting to see someone beat 2 computers by now, but I guess that was just a pipe dream... :D
