Alright I just set up my new folder for Mafia 8. I saved the first three pages as well as the profiles of people who haven't posted in those pages for future name/signature/avatar reference.
None.
I'm on the run and out to dinner, but three things I garnered in five minutes:
-I'm think A_of-s_t wrote this night - it doesn't quite feel like Moose's literary style
We can always ask Moose. I'm a bit skeptical about the quality of clues A_of-s_t will write. I hope they follow the style of clues that have been going on in past mafia and aren't just stupid or based on ridiculous connections.
-I think the fact that the mayoral mansion was doomed by fire is very significant. I don't want to point a finger at lil-Inferno right now, but when I was cluewriting last game there was a total anathema on death by fire since lil-Inferno wasn't mafia.
"I know that the clues are NEVER that obvious on the first night."
In addition to the clue pointing to you that you point out, death by fire seems like a pretty obvious clue. I'm just pointing this out because if you're going to use the idea that on the first night clues are never obvious as a defense for yourself you also have to apply it to other obvious clues.
-I know that it looks like Moose was the victim of a Yamato Cannon, but I alone know that's not true. The only defense I can offer right now is that from my experience last game, I know that the clues are NEVER that obvious on the first night.
This must be considered and of course you're a suspect right now, but we should definitely not jump to any conclusions. I'm sure there are plenty more clues to be found that we should use to base our first lynching on. While you could turn out to be a valuable town asset the opposite could be true in that you may be a mafia mastermind.
None.
But last game was mind fuck. This isn't! YAHH TRICK YAHHH!

Oh I just noticed something interesting browsing through the first page. Krayzee has a BC avatar.
Also, I'm not necessarily taking that clue against you, DTBK, lightly because I recall the same type of clue about the yamato cannon being used before.
From Mafia 3:
First day
Second day
Again, DT_Battlekruser strikes with the Yamato Gun. Voyager's real name is Matt, which in Japanese becomes Yamato.
I'll also note that DTBK won that game.
Here's some other clues that game that pointed to DTBK that might be seen again. At least they are some things about him to keep in mind.
DTBK has been here long enough to be ancient.
Battlecruisers would be built out of sheets of metal.
Calculus and mathematics are obvious references to DTBK. In fact, just look at the Calculus topic that had been on the first page of Null at the time.
Battlecruisers are slow, but effective.
Of course I'm sure Moose and A of st won't go around completely reusing clues, but history is an important thing to be aware of.
Also, I'm pretty sure Moose write this day's post based on my conversation with him earlier today:
Session Start (devilesk@gmail.com:Moose): Fri Sep 19 18:41:16 2008
...
[18:41] Moose: I am making such epic clues
[18:41] devilesk: lol
[18:41] devilesk: whats my role
[18:41] Moose: Devilesk

In the middle of the night, the roof of the mayor's mansion catches fire.
The first and obvious interpretation here points to 'lil-inferno'. Of course, can't put much if any stock into this yet. It seems way too easy. This seems better... Why is it the roof, specifically, that catches fire? Perhaps because of
HailFire? Seems plausible.
Right before the battle is about to intensify, a light appears from one of the mafia. The light goes straight through the chest of Mini Moose 2707, killing him and setting fire to a house behind him. Their mission complete, the mafia retreat back into hiding to plan the next night's attacks.
This whole light bit initially points me to
Greo, based on his avatar.
However, the shot spreads harmlessly through the air because the mafia has disappeared into the ground.
I'd have to go with Hynk on this one, based on his mario signature. This one actually seems pretty legit right now. Relative to some other stupid intrepretations that will be tossed around, myself contributing to that. Speaking of which, another possible intrepration might point to MadZombie... if we assume that zombies can absorb themselves back into the ground. Or something.
Lastly, and most importantly, the post talks a bunch about a mayor, so Devilesk must be mafia. I rest my case.
None.
Devilesk is also a suspect for me.
None.
Wow, nice theories Dapperdan. The Lil-inferno or HailFire theory makes the most sense to me.
I vote HailFire.
None.
I like Dapperdan's clue interpretations. Hailfire seems to be a pretty strong candidate and DTBK is up there too.
I vote Hailfire.
None.
Why so strong in hopping in bandwagon? You're all suspects to me now.
None.
Devilesk is also a suspect for me.
Long shot clue interpretation: "gold in the foothills," is a reference to the colour of devilesk's name colour.
None.
I change my vote to devilesk.
Hop on the waffle & fried chicken train! Choo Choo!
None.
I'm going to pull a DTBK and say that the "gold" clue isn't THAT obvious. Furthermore, remember last mafia? GOLD star for smart tactics? Yea, that didn't point to me either. I guarantee that if the town idiotically lynches me then you'll greatly regret it.
Anyway, unless the doctors save me the next night I'm dead. But go ahead and waste a lynch on a deadman rather than let me take a hit from the mafia.
If the dedication I put into a town victory is rewarded with betrayal and a trip to the guillotine then I hope town gets screwed over and next game I'm not going to do shit for you guys. I'll just sit back, watch the game, and laugh as the mafia owns you because you're all stupid.
And if Echo is serious about his vote for me then I vote for Echo. I know he can be more intelligent than this and that he knows I'm not mafia. Either he's being an idiot (and last mafia game shows what happens when you let idiots live) or he's mafia. Either way if he's going to continue to vote me then
I cast my vote for Echo.
None.
I hope people aren't dumb enough believe you just by saying you aren't mafia.

As I said before the game is early and there's no need to jump to conclusions. So far several clues but only one pointing towards every suspect. For example, DTBK and I are suspects, that cannot be denied. However, other people such as Hailfire and lil-inferno have been accused.
What I propose is that since we have equal amounts of clues pointing towards different people we must make our decision based upon the value of the townie if he were kept alive. And in my opinion, DTBK and I have done more for mafia games than Hailfire and lil-inferno.
To me it's not a wise decision to lynch a person who has proven themselves useful in past games on the FIRST day with only ONE clue so far to back it up, especially when there are other suspects.
None.
Right, so let's keep you two alive, because you could be good townies. And let's vote HailFire. His fire clue is stronger than inferno because the ROOF is what sets on fire. That's two hints towards him, and only one towards inferno.
Btw, echo does 'stupid' shit like this a lot. He goes against the grain willingly. Instead of lynching him, a better idea would be to ignore him. The latter is easier accomplished (as long as good townies like yourself keep pumping out good intrepretations -- and rest assured, there should be at least one doctor protecting you) as well as a more efficient play. The mafia has 6 kills a night so it would be smartest for us (as should be obvious) to try to lynch mafia candidates before stupid people. We have some decent clues and we should act on it.

I will hold off on voting for hailfire and do some clue hunting and interpreting.

Yes, I'm not really seriously for the lynching of Echo. It was more of a threat because I doubt there will be a bandwagon against me just because of his stupid vote.
I change my vote to abstain, but I am certainly looking for someone to lynch and I will come back with good interpretations to further defend my stance as a townie.

All sounds good. I look forward to your input.
