Anyways back to the original topic of this thread:( )

Have you started on the rest of the map or did you decide to make this part even better?

That bridge is just amazing. Its awesome to the highest degree. Splish like awesome is to great is to awesome. Could not be better. Except with mounted kinetic pulse laser cannons.

Two new deblocked areas have been added, I'm still at work on these.

Nice! :) Your work is coming together very nicely :D Just a question, How many units are you planning on having players command in this? Because it will be hard to manipulate more than 5 through most of this terrain... Or maybe its just extended stuff and not actual game play?

It's a final fantasy RPG, the main player walks a single civilian through that. The rest of the players can do minigames for a little bit of extra xp while the main moves, and they all turn off in a fight, and go right back on afterwards. The minigames will be stuff like pathfinding, obstacle courses, some minigames where you fight with lil dudes and all that, just to keep players 2-4 busy while player one moves. If there's cinematics, then minigames all pause. (There's a switch for that) That's just a bit of background on the terrain. The map's battle system is complete, but without special abilities, xp, and leveling. There are ten weapons so far, up to 50 by the time I'm done, and each weapon is a single string in game, with a death counter value to represent it. You can find weapons after battles n stuff.

Have some of the obstacles be a bound haha. I thought up a map called adventure bound where it was like you had one unit for your party and whenever you came close to a monster you had to do a bound to defeat the moster haha.

This one isn't exactly like that. Fights are based on the final fantasy system.

The stuff for players 2-4 is just some entertaining things for those who get bored of looking at terrain, although I'll need to do extensive testing to see how much of this is actually needed.

lol have them play poker when they are in the room by themselves or something haha.

Sep 15 2007, 6:19 pm Jello-Jigglers Post #50

Haha gotta love poker... But are those the kinds of mini games you are shooting for or what are you really looking for? Cause that wouldn't be as fun to me as a regular rpg ya mean? Anyways it looks pretty gosh darn good so keep up the good work :D

I think it would be cool if the minigames were more like jobs. While the main player is exploring, one person could be "smithing" to earn extra upgrades for the party members. Another player could "study" to learn new skills. Heck, you could throw in a cooking minigame that involves mixing ingredients to make potions, revives, etc. for the whole party to use.

Sep 15 2007, 11:46 pm JaBoK Post #53

That was just what I had planned, actually. Stuff that you could do while exploring. One problem is matching the rate of random encounters so that minigames can be played in between. My thoughts was that a new fight could not occur until the party had moved and the minigame had been completed. The minigames would average about 20 seconds to a minute, and would be unavailable in dungeons and cities.

Geez these maps aren't your everyday defences you see on battlenet are they?! Man you guys really are devout! So where do you get all the ideas for the maps? Is this something that everyone knows around here or are you mad out of your mind for thinking this stuff up?

Sep 23 2007, 3:37 am JaBoK Post #55

This one has been going on for like 8 months. First I experimented with one where infested terran did damage to buildings and that was the entirety of the battle system. Th eoriginal idea was to create FF6 as a map. I later moved to my own storyline and a death counter based system and the extended terrain nightmare you see here today. I'll be posting a demo of the map soon, so you'll be able to try it out if you plan on staying with SEN for a week at least.

Well, sorry for double posting, but I added another picture to the front page, for convenience, It's HERE:

As well.

I will have another such area done soon, and I hope to complete the nation of Tereland by the end of the week, when I hope to release a sort of demo that works up to a point for four players. The dome may last only 10 minutes and show only the sort of badly done city, but the battle system is what it will show. Sorry for such a long time without updates.

Looks nice, are you gonna give me credit for the doodad in the bottom middle?

None.

Sep 27 2007, 2:15 am Falkoner Post #58

Terrain is one of the few things in a map that in my opinion deserve no credit given, unless a HUGE amount is just copied and no personal blending done.

Sep 27 2007, 2:30 am Dr. Brown Post #59

Really you don't think people should get credit for what they've done? I think it would at least be courteous to show some acknowledgment because they didn't really think of it themselves... Anyways That is a ton of sweet terrain and I can't really say anything bad about it which is a good thing jabok! Nice work with everything and I love seeing all the new stuff you come out with cause it always seem well thought out and original with each new idea and what not anyways cool stuff man!

Sep 27 2007, 5:35 am JaBoK Post #60

Well, I like to give credit to whoever I found stuff from if I can, just for politeness' sake.
EDIT here's another.

Ignore messed up bottom doodad and the top of the temple, I'll fix those later.
Getting close to a large zoomed out shot.
