Bernie Mac was hospitalized with pneumonia on August 1, 2008, and the following day, a source close to the family said Mac was in "very, very critical" condition.[4] He was recovering from pneumonia, most likely brought on by his sarcoidosis, in a Chicago hospital. His publicist, Danica Smith, said he was expected to make a full recovery, and he was responding well to treatment.[5]
On August 9, 2008 the Chicago Sun-Times reported Bernie Mac had died,[6][7] with confirmation by the Associated Press about the cause of his death.[8][9] The 2008 Bud Billiken Parade in Chicago, on the day he died, was dedicated to his memory.
I can't believe it. There has been a lot of celebrity deaths this year. Bernie Mac was a funny guy too and he was in productions of movies such as transformers 2.

And to think just a few days ago I watched an episode of the Bernie Mac show on TV. =o[ Definately unexpected, and quite sad.
People die every day, but most of us here don't know them. The death of a celebrity, known vicariously by many people, has more impact simply because we know more about them; there is a face, a personality, a history to the name, and we can relate, reminded of our own mortality, and how fickle fate can be.

I mean no offense, but...
who?
None.
He's a black comedian. He was a car's salesman in Transformers 2. He was most famous for his role in Oceans 11, etc movies and the Bernie Mac Show.
None.
I liked the Bernie Mac Show a little, but my sister, who's only 9 loves it and watches it at midnight like everyday...
None.
I didn't know he was in those movies. All I knew him was the show which I despised for its stupidity.

Isaac Hayes, also known as Shaft and Chef from South Park, passed away August 10th at age 65 of currently unknown causes (though a stroke is suspected).
Bernie Mac, Isaac Hayes, and Samuel L. Jackson had all recently finished filming a movie together, too. Mr. Jackson has had guards on watch after the passing of his costars.
The release date of the movie is being pushed back. I wonder if it'll enjoy the same curiosity factor as the Dark Knight with Heath Ledger. If it does, slipperyslope logic tells us that producers may start murdering their stars of recently filmed movies to boost sales. =oP
Wow. George Carlin and Bernie Mac in the same year.. Not a good year for comedians.
He meant to say "too" instead of "2".
If it does, slipperyslope logic tells us that producers may start murdering their stars of recently filmed movies to boost sales. =oP

I bet it's secretly an alien virus, that starts with our celebrities, then our celebrity chefs, then our celebrity politicians, then our politicians, and finally our mailmen.
SHIT, I AM NOT GONNA GET MY EBAY PURCHASE. >=(
P.S. RIP Bernie, you big funny man (his stand-up was way better than his show)

Holy shit! Chef died too! What purpose did scientology have for him now!?
