Ha! I knew there was something funky going on, I didn't realize it till reading your guys posts, but my SCMDraft problems correlate to when I reinstalled starcraft with the online blizzard-store version as well so that I could play without a CD (my CD kept getting cyclic redundancy check). If the storm.dll's are different, will you programer people be able to fix this? Or is it the equivelent of needing to write a whole new editor?
Edit: 1.15.2.1 is the storm.dll for my from-website version of starcraft.
None.
It depends. If it truly is the MPQ code that is failing, then each program would have to be updated. If the 3rd party libraries that each one uses (stormlib in SF's case, I think DW wrote the code for SCMDraft but I'm not positive) have
not been updated, then the solution is a little tougher - they'd have to fall back on using Storm.dll to read archives, and their own custom code to write them. I really don't have time to do the necessary work for SF (I'm not even sure where I left the source
). I can't speak for SI.
The good news is that you can configure each program to look in a different place for its archives, as long as you can get a copy of the original archives onto the target computer. For SF, you need to change HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Starcraft\InstallPath. Alternatively you could just rename the existing archives, then when SF complains, point it to a different folder. For SCMDraft you can adjust the archive locations in the options window somewhere.

Heh, anyone feel like posting their old version of StarDat.mpq?

hm 65 mb with my crappy upload.... I guess I can do it this night. Going to post the link tomorrow.
Btw. good work figuring that out guys.
Well, it does seem most likely but we haven't figured it out for certain yet. I'll see if I can get it from my starcraft CD to try and save you some trouble Nude.
Edit: My CD's are junk. It's all up to you Nude!!!

Just for the record, my mpq has 66.719.735 bytes (=65156 kb).
If you got it from your cd leave a short notice pls. Otherwise I'll upload it this night. It's np as I will just leave my computer running.
I'm uploading mine onto googlepages as we speak, but I have ~ 300 kb/s upload on a great day, and googlepages won't accept files over 10 MB, so there's 10 rars. I don't particularly like those temporary sites.
It looks like googlepages doesn't like it, so mediafire it is.
links removed... Hope you got it.

"Parliamentary inquiry, Mr. Chairman - do we have to call the Gentleman a gentleman if he's not one?"
I have another idea.
If you have winMPQ, you could try creating a new archive with it, then copying the data from the downloaded stardat.mpq into the new one.

Here is my mpq.

You'll have to wait about a minute until you can start the download.
Yoshi: Never post your stardat.mpq online. It contains your CD key.

Suicidal Insanity says: tell them to email me example broken maps to suicidal_insanity AT stormcoast-fortress.net with Scmdraft Maps as the subject.

Yoshi, the CD Key is encrypted very well, although I know Farty and someone else have been working on a program to extract it, so yeah, I guess it may be a bad idea.

It doesnt matter. All you have to do is replace your stardat with his and you're using his CD key.

extracting them is fairly straightforward, scmdraft wouldn't be able to access some datafiles if it couldn't do that.
