Welcome to the Solo-player map Project Ladder! My name is FooFighters! i am here to offer some rewards for awesome maps! So, after that, you wonder what i mean? I mean that you must submit a map you made by yourself, it can be a single-player or multiplayer! O ya, the minerals is based on lil-Inferno's ladders, and you start at 25 minerals, so you don't need to donate a lot, and more maps will be donated!
#1 Player: 50
#2 Player: 25
#3 Player: 25

Rules, The basics of this ladder!
Quote
1) Maps must be finished before turning in, if the map is not turned in, it doesn't count!
2) The map must not be stolen from another person, no matter what! [Ex: Zombie Hotel, ToS]
--a) If this map is stolen, you will be banned from this ladder!
3) No masses, zombie hotels, ToS, etc;
4) the map can be based on someone's idea, but will not entirely STEAL from them.
5) The map must be made by one player only!
6) the map must be playable on b.net, and must be one player game, or a multiplayer game...
7) the map MUST be finished in order for the ladder to accept the map...
8) maps must be submitted via pm, and have a website for it to download off of... ie; Staredit.net, or other places!
9) the map must be finished in this year of 2008, later then this May! the map must be something that no voter has played before, and must include your name, and the date finished
Point Bonuses and Ðeductions!
Quote
Points are rated for your skill level, and the other stuff!
Bonuses:
One of a Kind map- no one else's idea, it can be based on another guy's idea, but that will just lower your points
Fun- Will the map be a very fun map that will be played forever?
Extras- Any extra features that will be adding more skill to the map?

Ðeductions:
Glitchiness- is there any glitches that take away from the game?
Size- How big is the map, computer size wise, i want people to play these games Fast, not take five thousand hours just to download it... deductions start at 2 mb...
Aesthetics- does the map have spelling errors or anything that messes with experience
Improper terrain height- is the map terrain height getting the player off guard and saying that the map's terrain sucks because of the heigt? Well, be careful with this, and if there is no possible way to fix this, well, tough luck

So i need more ideas for bonuses and deductions, i can't think right now

Ðonations {Ðon't worry people i'm not like lil-Inferno, i will never do what he did with that money!}

Just here for the pie

You could give a little bit more details :P . Unfortunately, I have no finished maps.

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

So by "Solo-Player," you mean single player campaigns, right?

Yeah, is it a Solo-player map because it is supposed to be for only 1-player? Or is it a solo-map maker map? If so, I'm going to love this :P

No i mean that the map must be created by yourself, it can be played by multiple people, i just can't get my head straight

Just here for the pie

A possible rubric could consist of these factors :
  • Fun X/20 - How fun was you map? Will I ever play it again? Will it be a map night favorite? This will be a huge factor.
  • Aesthetics X/10 - Was I always distracted at every corner because of a spelling mistake or grammar mistake? Are there glitches everywhere or does your map play well?
  • Originality X/15 - Was your map truly a unique experience? Or was it just like any other Defense or RPG?
  • Extras X/5 - This means if you added anything miscellaneous, such as music and sound effects. This is completely optional.

Which equals a possible best total of 50/50. Perhaps whoever has the highest score total wins?

I take offense from that.

If you're talking about single-player maps, doesn't that take away from the main reason why size is a negative? And wouldn't we want to encourage exploiting the fact that single-player maps aren't downloaded through Battle.net to allow for things like better sound sets, more extensive music, etc., which increase the size? I mean, I can understand people with old computers minding something that gets into the hundred-megabyte range on their hard drive, but isn't the great thing about maps that you just download off the internet that you can let it go for half an hour in the background if need be?

I am currently working on a map. Hopefully improper terrain height does not bring down my aesthetic score.

I think Individual instead of Solo map ladder would clear up the ambiguity.

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

Basically what you intend to do is rate every map that someone submits and then rank members, not maps. Okay.

So overall, is it based on how good their maps are or how many they submit? I'm just thinking about how some members (namely Oo.Vic.oO, for example) have a million maps they could submit.

You know, I really don't think this ladder is a very good idea, same with the Concept Maps one, but this is is worse by far, as there are many members who have already made many maps, and you have no rule saying that the map cannot be already made, meaning I could already submit 4 maps to this ladder. That just seems a bit wrong to me, since older mappers can completely own the ladder simply by submitting all their old maps. Unless you make a rule that it must not have been made before the ladder began, this is simply a contest of the oldest mappers, or whichever one decides to submit their maps.

On top of all that, this Ladder is too general, most mappers work solo, so almost any map could be submitted to this. And it's not extremely well-made either, I really think this ladder = fail.

The Concept Ladder is more flexible than this one because you don't have to spend three months making one. It seems noone has submitted to this one :P .

The concept ladder still fails. You don't have to spend three months making a good map either. I just started a small map a day or two ago (not because of this ladder), and I'm almost done with it.

Well, it really depends on what your map is. Some maps don't take that much time to make, where as a classic RPG could take forever.

May 8 2008, 1:41 am Falkoner Post #18

Yeah, but this is way too general, the concept ladder at least has some basic rules, this is almost a free-for-all..
