Oh well, lets get back on topic about these positive and negative gods. And it appears I simply hold my case about actions. I've decided they do not tie into his theory.

String theory is completely ridiculous.
You're completely ridiculous for not even trying to give an argument.

Quote from Akar
One of the major flaws is that it relies on Einstein's general theory of relativity to work, yet violates it at the exact same time.
You probably don't even know how it does. You just read a quote that stated it did.

Dam you and your picture dapperdan. I just spent like probably 5 minutes trying to scratch off that tiny black spot in bottom right. Probably killed like 10 pixels.

Have you ever read The Elegant Universe or The Fabric of the Cosmos? Don't try to say string theory is useless when you don't even understand the basics of it.

I've seen a video on string theory. It was 2 years ago now, though. Also, we had to do this massive quark/quantam powerpoint presentation for my Chemistry class (probably equivalent to what you consider AP) in late November last year, and one of the sections on it was string theory. (It was a class project) One of my best friends did the section on String Theory and his opinion of it was that it was basically a crock of shit at the moment, and from what he presented, I'm on that train of thought with string theory -- he's very smart and I value his judgement greatly. String theory interesting, surely, but I honestly believe that cartoon sums it up pretty well. I'm currently not worried about reading up on it further.

I have a feeling you're not even a proponent of string theory (or maybe you are, regardless...) but are just trying to shoot me down in the hopes I really have no idea what I'm talking about, and really just argue for the sake of arguing. It would be very nice if we could stop this conversation in this topic now unless anyone else wants to chime in and/or more importantly the topic creator doesn't mind.

I have strong reasons to believe string theory is correct. But what do you even know about it? For example, do you know how graviton is related to it? Why there needs to be more dimensions? Etc. All of these questions can potentially be answered be string theory. The fact that you came in here not knowing anything about it and trying to justify its uselessness (without any argument or evidence; your friend's opinion is not evidence) is just hypocrisy of your position.

I don't argue for the sake of arguing: I always argue with a point, no matter how subtle it is. But if you honestly believe I'm arguing for the sake of arguing right now, then you're more narrow-minded than I thought.

Imagine what humanity could achieve if it lost everything that made us human. Emotions.
There would be no backstabbing, no deceit, no regret. Only cooperation to achieve goals. Once those goals have been achieved, take the next step.
No emotion would make us almost perfect as a species.

I don't see how this fits in this topic.

Not to mention your point fails.

There'd be no pride in achieving goals...

It's all a part of evolution. Backstabbing and deceit are strategies with potential gains useful for survival. Read up on Tit-for-Tat.

And if we as a species lacked backstabbing/deceit, how would we cope if we ever met a sentient species that did? I would rather we stay versatile. =oD

As for regret, it serves as a learning tool.
