ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

I'm always looking to expand my video game/movie OST collection, as I think they're the best type of music to do all sorts of things, from playing games to studying. Currently, my OST collection consists of the following:

  • Harry Potter
  • Fable TLC
  • God of War Trilogy
  • Halo Series
  • The Dark Knight Rises
  • The Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit
  • Skyrim
  • Shadow of the Colossus
  • Echoes of War
  • WoW Cataclysm
  • Game of Thrones Seasons 1-4
  • Shadowgate

Needless to say, I have a pretty outdated and shitty collection, and it's definitely in need of some updating. I'd say that right now, my favorite OST is for Shadow of the Colossus. If you haven't played it, it's fucking amazing. Hands down, one of my top three favorite games. I doubt you can appreciate it as much as me if you haven't played the game, but still, give it a listen. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. I've also enjoyed the Shadowgate (remake) OST as of late, but the only playlists I can find are for the NES version, which are all 8-bit, and I'm not really a fan of them.

So, post your favorite OSTs here!

Don't really have too many favourites, but since you were vague about Halo I can't speak strongly enough about Neil Davidge's Halo 4 soundtrack. O'Donnel was good and probably better than Davidge but his electronic work is top notch and usable in a lot of different ways.

Otherwise, WoW MoP reportedly had good music. And while he's by no means an 'OST' composer, you could check out Senmuth (link - mind the edgy presentation of his website, gave me aids until I listened to his music for a cure). He does ethnic, mostly instrumental stuff that fits very well with a lot of different thematics.

Another game to check out for its OST would be Company of Heroes 2. I think the game was shit but anything with Cris Velasco is probably decent in the musical category. He and Sascha Dikiciyan even made Space Marine almost tolerable.

I have no idea what to put here... So I guess I'll just put this here.

It might just be a Flash series, but check out Epic Battle Fantasy 3 and 4. The OSTs for them are to die for.

Indeed I do have the Halo 4 soundtrack. While I also agree that O'Donnell is better, Davidge's style is surprisingly pleasant and refreshing.

Will give them a listen.

she/her

Demon's Souls --> lots of "empty" feeling tracks, if you are into that
Dark Souls --> less "empty" than Demon's Souls, with some really nice tracks
Bayonetta --> some pretty nice tracks here and there
Crypt of the Necrodancer --> electro, metal mix, and another electro mix

Would actually recommend never listening to any From Software game's tracks, at least after Demon's Souls, which was still mediocre. Very, very generic. Time is better spent elsewhere.

Dang you guys play a lot of AAA games.

I'd say Chrono Trigger for SNES and Dragon Warrior Monsters for GBC.

Hello

Movies:
To be honest, mostly the ones everybody knows. Harry Potter, obviously Game of Thrones, Walking Dead.
The soundtrack of Dead Silence, not that well known I assume, is amazing as well.

Videogames:
  • Dungeon Siege (Especially the 'Main Theme')
  • SOMA OST: 01 Soma Theme*
  • Trine 2
  • Crypt of the Necrodancer (yay @Sand Wraith!)
  • Starcraft Broodwar
  • Starcraft II (WoL, HotS)
  • F-Zero GX
  • ...

List is not ordered. Trine 2 might be my favourite of all or maybe 'Soma Theme'. They all are amazing.

*this part of the OST, to be precise:

Then you'll love that:

P.S. As soon as I saw Devo posting here, I knew he'd contribute a whole bunch. :D

EVE Online has one of the best soundtracks out there imo. Just ignore the fact that I haven't had the sound enabled in the game for seven years.

SC BW

Power Drive 2000: It's not even finished yet, but holy shit look at that epic lineup of artists!

Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit

Sanctum 2

Borderlands 2. I especially love this one:

Miami Vice has an amazing soundtrack

The Beverly Hills Cop movies has some great tracks as well.

Listened to the first like 10 Minutes. Seems to be soothing high quality stuff, often kind of similar to those relaxation CDs. Not my cup of tea though.

Pretty much the same over here.
EDIT: after listening to more of it, it gets much better :>

Oh, I forgot very good ones:
- Talos Principle
- Metroid Prime 2 : Echoes
- Banjoo Kazooie (especially Gruntilda's Lair)

Ah yes, The Talos Principle has a great soundtrack. It's such an amazing atmospheric game in general.

Oh, I forgot about Silent Hill 2's OST:

And most impotantly, who could forget the best video game song ever:
