Relatively ancient and inactive

Well, on the old SEN, I would be all for this. I could be online for an hour or so posting to different threads in a multitude a forums. This current SEN is so.. so.. relatively inactive, that I value any thread I can fit a post in very highly. Thus.. I really don't think these threads should be removed. SEN's so boring now -.-.

Yeah, but talking and spam is different. What if we added a starcraft strategy forum?

I do not agree. Some people say that people can eat their own words, and you can also eat spam. If it is nutritional we can put them both in the same category as food, making them the same thing.

On a site that was supposedly intended specifically for map makers? Wonderful idea.

I think the warn log would still be a better choice, nonetheless, it lets the perpetrator know that he's gotten in trouble, so a lot of the time they stop, at least for a little while.

modmaster, FlyingHat, Corbo, you, Falkoner, poiuy or whatever.. that's all I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure I've seen more of you.

Edit: Also, Deathawk, sorry about my mistake, I just assumed you were one of them since you started posting more around the time they showed up.

Edit#2: Moose tells me Falk isn't much of a maplantian. I was/am pretty sure he is.

Moose is sorta right, I like Maplantis a bit more, but that's mainly because it's more active and has all its systems worked out, I come to SeN whenever I go to Maplantis, so I'm here about as much as I can be.

Falkoner isn't. We make fun of him there for spamming his shitty website.

Then I'm sure this will give you great joy :P

And it's odd that there doesn't seem to be as many spammers at Maplantis... Although, I think the name StarEdit.net gets more people for maps than maplantis, so you have a larger amount of new members.
I just think both websites have gotten a bit lax about posts, I remember when I first joined, I always made sure that every post at least helped out in some way, if I wanted to talk about something else, I had to at least get something helpful in there, I just don't see that at either website now..

One of the few reasons I come here. Lulz

Srsly, If sen was overflowed with way too much spam, another admin would have been already hired I'm sure. Which reminds me, wheres them not-so-global admins who moderated just one board, I miss having to stay on their good side :shifty:

Me too. I think I succeeded. Can't think of any moderators or higher up in the hierarchy who hated me :P.

I really don't think SEN's inactiveness will become much of an issue. All we need to is, once SCII comes out, is make sure that we dish out a lot of tutorials quickly and show up before Maplantis when someone googles 'SCII map making' or a variation of that. Good luck bribing Google, Moose :P.

Wow. When you think about SC2 all you can think about is "how you're going to beat out maplantis by having a higher ranking on google" eh? When I think about SC2 I think about all the fun we're going to have exploring the mapping as a global community and sharing the knowledge.

I've tried to not involve myself in website politics but this is ridiculous. Why do you think people go to maplantis? It's not like I stuck a gun at their head and told them to go there. I've put a lot of effort into the features over there. The maps db extracts truckloads of information (it was not an easy task to get it so automated, I don't have a lot of CHK experience and it was prone to plenty of problems). We did a custom wiki. We try to listen to the demands of the community and implement things accordingly. The community is the one that got maplantis to change from being hardcore OSmap to what it is now. And you think with all this work that I put into maplantis you think that the mapping community would be better off without dedicated websites and individuals that actually make a difference and just have one website for all that stuff without caring who runs it or what they do with it?

If your suggested goal with SEN right now is to horde map making information and try to lure everybody to come here so you can boast about being the only SC2 map making site on the internet, then I am extremely disappointed. You guys act so surprised and hate it when some maplantians are sometimes hostile towards the members who are on this website. Don't be surprised. More sites = more content and knowledge, and plus you don't put all your eggs in one basket just to have it erased by some freak server accident or whatever.

This right here folks, wise words.
I think you need to stop stamping your feet like a child who cant win our best marble. This isnt about a contest, or some 'site war' you may have dreamed up in your heads. This is a matter of where people choose to go, and if you take into account the factors that influence that, you should know no placement on google is going to do you much good.

Hostile, Yoshi. I'm not imagining a website war - I'm trying to simply put one or the other on top. It's going to happen eventually. Try finding two map making sites for any single game of equal popularity. WCIII (had) wc3campaigns as the main one.

I really don't know why you guys can't just merge SEN and Maplantis. One's going to be on top in the end. A guy asks on battle net, where can I go to get help with X, and he'll get a response akin to 'Go to Y. There's also Z, but I like Y better'.

It just doesn't make sense, how you guys are splitting up the map making community. In order to read all the requests, someone has to visit two very different websites. In order to communicate, two different websites. And in the end, one will be behind the other anyway. All SEN has right now is a reputation and dedicated members. The decline of SCI is not the only reason SEN is so empty right now.

I'm not putting down your accomplishments. Maplantis is awesome (hell, only reason I'm not there usually is the monotone color scheme (well.. too monotone) and I like Moose), with a wiki, a fantastic downloads database, and extremely well functioning forums. I'm not denying that.

Don't be an idealist and say there won't be any competition if I didn't exist (or anything to that effect). Two websites, on the same game, covering the same aspects, with same planned features. Pretty obvious. Again, just try merging the two sites, dammit. With a SEN theme and a maplantisesque theme. Implement wiki/DLDB/whatever here or SEN's distinguishing features (err.. clan system, I guess) to Latova. It's detrimental to the mapping community when you split them up.

The main problem is both site's views on OS Map, people who are pro-OS map tend to go mostly to Maplantis, but they often go to both, and anti-OS Map people like SeN, and tend to avoid Maplantis.. And if we merged, it'd have to go one way or the other.
