is it possible? i dont like the way the shadows are going directly to the right, id like the sun to be shining from top left.

another thing, is is possible to rotate doodads before placing them? im finding it quite a pain to do vines, as i have to go through like 15+ variations before i get to one that fits.
thanks

Dungeon Master

Idk much about the editor, but can't you set custom cameras? Just change the angle of the camera however you would do that.

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

You can edit that under lights in the info field... I've played only a short time with that, so I may be wrong.
But I don't know where to select the used light scene of the map. But you can set that through triggers I think, but you can't use that for a melee map.

You can set the lighting of a map with the data editor only. Lighting you can change under Windows->Lighting (You can add your own or modify an existing one), change the light used by a terrain set in the data editor: Terrain Texture Sets->Lighting.

Regards to the Doodles, you can either use your mouse keys to go up and down, if you got them in list show - it will pick a new varyation each time. Or you can spam a bunch of them, and copy/paste or move the ones you want since copy/paste/cut wont change the skin/varyation of it. You can't rotate it prio to setting, but the shift-drag makes it fast to do afterwards, if you're talking actual rotating, and not just varyation.

I apologize for all those *cough* noob *cough* answers. Here is a good one (:P):

1) For the light, go there: http://www.staredit.net/starcraft2/Lighting#Lighting_Module
2) You can't rotate doodads -before- placing them, but a good way of achieving what you want is to place the doodad you want, no matter its orientation, then select it, press Ctrl, and left click at random points around the doodad: it'll make it face the point you have clicked. You can see more of these useful tips there: Terraining Tips.

thanks

another question.. i have been messing around in the window > lighting thing

you change the angle of the sun in there and also change it from day to night and all that stuff.

at the moment i simply want to set my map to the auir lighting scheme. is it possible to do this without using triggers?
right now when i go in there and change stuff around, it will show my map as being affected by the new lighting set, but when i close the lighting pane it just goes back to the way it was. the position of the sun stayed the way i made it oddly enough.
i am making a melee map, so i cant have triggers in there.
thanks

Oops, I forgot this important point: at start, right click in the menu to the left and select "Add default light". Say "Yes" to the over-write alert message. Work on this newly created lighting and it should be the default one. :)

You can change the lighting to an already created one in the data editor by going to Terrain Texture Sets, then select the terrain set you are using and change the Lighting field to the light you want.
