Actually, although I would enjoy another week to fix some things, If we DO make it extended into 2010, that defeats the spirit of the competition

Afterall it is the 2009 challenge.

wow you guys had an entire YEAR to finish your project xD.

I want an official announcement by today because...I'm confused now. Who takes an entire year to make a sc map???

Anyway I'm wrapping up my project, worked on it for like 20 hours over 2 days @_@.

Because of the weight behind it, I AM going to extend the deadline by two weeks. I think Psionic_Storm put it best; the objective is to have as many great maps as we can, the better better our maps are, the better for everyone.

The difference between these two weeks and any other two weeks is Winter Break, for many people.

You've been outweighed, unfortunately. There is always room for improvement, however, especially in an AoS were balance needs to be so fine-tuned- if there wasn't you wouldn't be worried about your chances waning.

I don't think it should be extended. Some of us worked really hard to get it done by the deadline and this extension would just make our hard work worth nothing. The other mappers had a WHOLE YEAR to get these complete, yet they chose to work on it too late. This extension only helps out the ones who procrastinated. It doesn't reward the ones who actually met the deadline. A deadline is a deadline. I believe if they don't meet it, it's too bad. Again, they had a WHOLE YEAR to get this done, and they want a 2 weeks extension? Are you kidding me? Why could you not do this map making in that WHOLE YEAR you could have worked on it in?

I feel this decision was all for the best


Yeah that is somewhat aggravating. Guess we need to give these procrastinators a bit more time. Who knows they could come up with something special...maybe. Gives non procrastinators more time anyway.

Family. Work. Problems in life more important than mapping. All these different things can add up and consume so much time that it can take MORE than a year to map. Ever consider that?

I feel this decision was all for the ones who were not ready.

I guess we all can submit a newer version of our map if you already submitted one. Who knows, our maps might contain a terrible bug that activates half-way in? ;o

Of course. I don't mean to be cruel, but those aren't our problems. We shouldn't be thrown off because of YOUR problems. We shouldn't have to extend it because of YOUR problems. You have to deal with it, not us.

I think most of us would actually like to see more maps than less though.

I think the solution is simple. Bonus points to those who have a complete and submitted map TOMMOROW! The others can take their 2 weeks (I'll be one of them since this does give me opportunity to complete mine). The soul purpose of this contest is to create the ultimate RPG on SC before SC 2 is released. You can't decide who made the Ultimate RPG if most people are not as complete as they'd like to be.. I know of a few mappers that spent more then a year working on their RPGs.

'us' Is maybe 5 people, give or take a few. The rest might have had the same problems, so it's not only me, it's MAJORITY of those in the competition or whatever you want to call this. So we're all bending to the needs of those who mostly procrastinated [I'll give you that], but for those of us who have real reasons why we need a quick extension, the rest of you need to just suck it up for the time being and take advantage of the opportunity to try and improve absolutley anything and everything. Sitting there complaining about it won't help at all, it'll just irritate the rest of us, I don't mean to be rude but that's how it is.

Seriously, if you guys are really hung up on this, give those who complete the map before the 1st 1000+ extra points in every category. You guys are getting hung up too much on the competitive nature of the contest.

Since when is 2 weeks a short extension? I would be fine if it were a few days, but 2 weeks? You don't need that much time ifyou needed small fixes. You can get a map started and finished in that time for all I know...

hmm agreed. Above all else I just wanted to submit a map, not necessarily to win.
